I took it to Elms as they were cheapest and no surprise after they quoted £191 when I got the bill it was £246. I'm not impressed with them. They said it would take 1 to 1.5 hours so I waited, it took nearly 2.5 hours and they hadn't even washed it. No real explanation for the increased price except it was for the Micofilter.

Does the microfilter normally need changing at the first service? If it does why don't they quote it. And shouldn't they check with me first before doing additional work? I was sitting in their showroom so they didn't even need to phone. I asked for the service manager but was told he was 'unavailable'.

Do you have any good contacts for complaining Carlos?

Just booked mine in for Tuesday at JCT600, Bradford. Quoted £90 for microfilter and the same for brake fluid. Told it would be no more than £200 all in. Damn...that's the extra beer and curry money taken this month then
Oil was done in October.

Mine's due for the first service in about 1500 miles - does anyone have any experience (good or bad) with Coopers Cobham/Thames Ditton or Vines of Guildford?

Had mine done today - 15k first service. £229.36.
£60 labour the rest was for microfilter, oil filter, engine oil disposal + 5.5 litres of engine oil. Had the recall job done as well.
Took almost whole day.

I got a refund from Elms for the extra cost over the price they had quoted, so I got the Microfilter for free. They said it is their policy to not carry out additional work without checking with the customer first and admitted that hadn't happened. Overall I'm happy and I hadn't even complained!

Well, with this new Condition Based Servicing regime on the e90, it varies a lot. Basically, instead of Oil Service and Inspection I/II, they try and get you in the garage for little things and as often as poss.

For example, at my second "service" (as per in-dash monitor) they didn't change the oil at first as they said it was good for another 4-5,000 miles... and the car's mileage was over 42K (about 19K since the first service)!

Mind you, they must have done something to the suspension (not listed in the works list, though), as the car felt a lot better afterwards (much tauter) - even down to less noise that i thought was coming from the front Bridgestone RFTs ... wierd.

I bought the oil from
http://www.lubetechshop.co.uk/produc...products_id=64

Williams BMW of Bolton agreed to use the oil (used about 8 litres), carried out first service for approx £85 and left the remaining oil in the boot.

Service comprised "standard scope", oil and filter change and disposal charge

Can't complain I suppose.
