The M2 is a modern version of E46/E92 M3.

1. He said that the fenders were the main complaint for M-enthusiasts which isn’t really true it’s the front & rear of the car.
2. He said the steering and feedback of the car is excellent which is definitely not true I test drove one and many have and they all still say it’s pretty numb. So…huh?…
3. Most of the video seemed like a hype video and not a car review. So I’m a bit confused about that. Did BMW ask him to do this for them? It seems so a bit. I noticed how inside the car, the camera left out the passenger seat so maybe there was a rep sitting there?

Just pouring my thoughts
I’m glad I’m not the only one who interpreted it that way.

My guess is he just thinks people should be happy to have MT, rwd, and the full M engine hardware. I think he's out of touch with what people want this car to be.
I think you're out of touch with reality for a car at 65k. Again, ridiculous expectations in 2023 car market.

Steering feedback is perfectly fine. Folks making those judgements are coming from great cars. It's better than the M4 I drove so I can say that whole heartedly.

Good review but he definitely missed the mark when he said the biggest complaint about the car was the huge fender flares. No one has complained about them because they look awesome.I also didn't see him confirm that the back seat doesn't have Merino leather like the front carbon fiber buckets.

Not really an unforgettable review. The weight of this vehicle has not been even mentioned.

You test drove one? Dealers just got the HEA cars this past weekend. Did one let you take one out? That's highly unusual.

Just checkin...

I have a G42 which they wanted to buy badly so they offered me a deal where they would buy my G42 and they would give me a G87. I was hesitant and I asked for a test drive as soon as they got one. It was a manual and I was “meh” to it and I declined the deal. So that’s how I was able to test drive it.

I NEVER heard anyone to complain about arches on the M2! He said that its one of the biggest complaints, that sounded almost made up to me to say smth bad about car and then have an opinion that is unique and against the grain.

His other comments on styling are subjective obviously, as these things tend to be.

I too think the car has good proportions, I too dont like the ! bits on the rear bumper, and I dont find the headlight-grille particularly beautiful. But overall its nice to see this car behaves great and drives well.

My dream spec would still be silver with brown interior and not black rims. That on the config always tends to look nice.

yeah when it comes to actual driving the guy is a bit of a grandma. i remember the last m2 comp review he was doing 15mph through a neighborhood saying 'oh wow this feels so tossable'. i had to laugh.

but most people do drive like him. they leave dsc on. wouldn't dare doing double the posted speed limit around a corner. and get there kicks doing a quick pull on the highway.

Well whatever, I'm not spending my money on it because it's not what I wanted. If everyone else wants to, so be it.

Slightly OT, but how on earth is an M3CS a tie, or a GR Corolla a better daily than an M240i?

A GRC being a better daily makes perfect sense to me but besides it's only a 1 point difference. Naturally the practicality of 4 doors with a hatch bumps up the DD score.

not to split hairs, but for comfort alone the Toyota is only 1 point lower, and the 3CS is a tie?

Seems like his mood du jour may have factored in. Whatever.

I love Doug and thought he spoke about the driving dynamics plenty. I’m encouraged that he loved driving it, he’s one of 3 guys I count on. Motoman dug it, Doug’s in, now waiting for geese and jack.
