I have still yet to see a single new Z on the road, and I live in the Bay Area, which should be Z central. What a collossal failure.

Do you mean the QX30 ? That was a Mercedes /Nissan collaboration built in England which had Mercedes powertrain and chassis. That flopped when Mercedes shut that factory down. |

I have owned many Nissans including a couple Red Sports , a QX70s , a Vettel edition FX and a few others in between. I am. not sure where the disconnect happened with nissan. The VQ i thought was great. The VR was a big disappointment tuning wise where the turbos are a huge choke point. The biggest problem was the JATCO auto. A completely useless piece of shit; at least in stock form. I was hopeful for the manual paired with the VR. I don’t know much about the new 9 speed. Seems the platform needs a rework.

not a failure- an intentional effort on their part to produce basically as few as possible. the car is a love letter to their dealer margins, not their enthusiast customers. its a real shame- at 40-50k with a 6 cyl and a 6 speed, it would basically be a class of one- like the M2.

I fell for the Nissan hype in 2004. I traded my 2003 E46 ///M3 for a 2004 G35. I regretted that purchase within months despite mods (…e.g. Hotchkis sways, front grille mod, a drop, etc.). Thankfully that car was stolen and I was back in a 2005 ZCP E46 ///M3 shortly thereafter. I told myself I wasn’t leaving BMW again unless it was for a Porsche. …..and I kept that promise to myself. |

Thanks bro! Yep! Or in my case, I wanted to hook up with the Asian sales gal. She had moved from BMW to Infiniti and buying that G35 was shootin’ my shot. The things we do for a lil’ taco. |

Crazy it was only $70k MSRP when they came out…a regular man’s Super car. Always wanted one but I couldn’t afford one back then and now MSRP is almost double that! I think if they offered the R35 with a manual, I would have found a way to get one.

Now? Forget it. And the used ones are usually fairly trashed with expensive maintenance waiting… I’ve driven so many, I’d be just fine with the auto. Lots of seat time in GTRs. If the M2 had a DCT, it could be a true GTR alternative. It would forever lack a bit of that GTR cool factor. Makes up for it in other ways.
