Hmm. Around here the meter maids hand out no front plate tickets.

California doesn't care anymore. I would not worry.

I'm curious. Can you provide a link to a change in law or enforcement policy?

Curious about a solution to this. I’m in New York and I’ve gotten a few tickets in the past so I need to figure something out. I should be receiving the the car any day now so I gotta make sure the dealership doesn’t drill any holes in the car by default. Anyone have suggestions?

Also. Will the dealership drill the holes in the bumper automatically? Or is it something they normally wait to do? This is my first new car so not sure how that works

I'd be pretty livid if a dealership took it upon themselves to alter my new car in any way that wasn't completely reversible. That's just my opinion tho, not an endorsement of whether or not they'd do it.

Good point. I can’t imagine they would but like I said. Never had a new car

I think it depends on the dealer. I would reach out to the dealer now and have them make a note to not drill the bumper. This way you don’t risk chance that they take it upon themselves.

EDIT: I made sure my CA was aware prior to delivery at the dealership.

I’m in NY too. Not running front plate but I don’t drive it far or often and I have the front plate and tow hook mount in the trunk and can put it on in front of officer if I get stopped maybe get out of the ticket.

I told my SA multiple times do not drill the front bumper and they listened !

I’ve sent the email. Thanks for the heads up. Anyone try a magnet mount? How are they?

I told my CA that holes in the bumper are a dealbreaker and she said they never drill into front bumpers. This is texas though, a bit more chill than the northeast/cali.

Just order a plate bracket for the front tow hook and provide it to them if they insist on having a front bracket on delivery day. I did that with Carmax when I got my F82.

Definitely good you sent an email. My CA grabs the bracket out of the car so there is nothing they can attach.

Also, Sly Brackets works well for me.

My Carbonio adhesive failed already. What does the sly bracket connect to? The website shows a grill mesh or horizontal slats, which we don't have.

The vertical posts on the front. Not the best photo, but should give you an idea.

It isn't perfect, but it seems secure and honestly I just keep it in the trunk just in case.

Side note, I’m sure this has been posted but what grill is that covering your radiator? That’s another day one fix I want to prioritize.

I live in SF with 2 cars that have no plates (1 that parks in the street).

About once a quarter I get a ticket for no front plate from my friendly neighborhood meter maid.

Fortunately you can submit your own photo evidence online, so I literally use packing tape to stick my plate to the bumper, take the photo, then pull it off. Then just pay the $10 administrative fee.

So for $40 a year, still worth it.

It depends how generally clueless they are.

I've seen it happen to cars on forums.

I e-mailed my CA twice and asked for explicit confirmation that they would not drill the holes.

I use StonSho brand of front removable plate system. It attaches via two screws onto the underside of the front bumper where there are already pre existing holes. The only downside is these are not compatible with any type of front lip mod.

Thanks! I ordered one that should arrive on Saturday. I have the Radiator grill store front mesh installed right now (zip ties and behind the vertical slats). I also have the zunsport but I never installed it because of the license plate holder being in the way.

The stradale design on I have sits pretty far back. The sky bracket definitely has some depth to it.

I just want to put my front plate on the tow hook but my big screw adapter is not long enough. Any link to the proper product to
Make it work?
