There certainly aren't piles of M2s sitting around near me. Very few allocations were left for 2024s when I ordered, and I was only able to find one on a lot I could look at anywhere near me, and that particular dealer was asking for a $5k dealer markup. I told them to kick rocks and found another dealer who had an allocation and bought through them at MSRP, but at least as of now they aren't readily available or offering any incentives.

I'm wouldn't put it quite that way, but if you are looking for discounts and worried about interest rates then a "toy" type car isn't the fight buy. An M2 can't seriously be though of as.anyrhing but a "fun" car. It's less than practical, but it is fun.

Less than practical why?….and compared to what? It has useable back seats and a decent trunk.

Smaller trunk than my car (couldn’t fit a box, because the tailgate wouldn’t close), it has less room in the back than the M2. I get in the backseat every day, as I put my child in his rear facing seat, it is WORSE doing that in that car.

I see the poster spends a good chunk of time in the G87 forums based on the last posts, hope he realizes what the car is when he makes the jump soon with his order for a 25.
Good observations on the actual useable space comparisons between the two cars.

Let me help you:

Every time a G87 thread makes front page, an “F87 Bro” comes from the sewer to make a snarky comment because they are not happy in their own forum, car, and life.
They hope someone takes their smartass comments as bait.
Wow, talk about an emotional / extremely defensive reaction...is everything OK man? Do you need to talk to somebody?

Was my original comment necessary? No. Was the "in good fun" context of the comment lost in text? Yes, I acknowledge that. Do I still agree with what I said? Yes, and that's from a macro/industry perspective.

I work with several Auto OEMs on the financing and consulting side, and I assure you, the world has changed...dealers may not want you to know / think that, but it has, and because of that, I think the days of us needing to line up outside of dealerships in hopes of getting an allocation are over, and that incentive behavior IS picking up, and rates have some room to work lower in the next 6-12 months as the Fed is likely only going to cut rates from here...that's all.

Since I'm done trying to be respectful in my replies, let's get some things out there. I never said the car was ugly (I personally think it's hideous from several angles), I never said it reminds me of an overpriced Civic Type R (it does), I never said the driving experience felt "numb" relative my F87 or prior E92/E46/E36 (it does)...and you still blew a gasket! Usually a sign that you are insecure about something, which is likely given a large percentage of the BMW enthusiast community who own legends like the E30/E46/E9X/etc. think that BMW has lost their way, and the styling on the new M2 is perfect representation of that. From the racing simulator screen on the dash to that hideous rear bumper and M Performance parts from the original Fast and Furious, many of us old school BMW purists are simply disgusted...that's OK, they don't need to make cars for me anymore, and if you love them, have at it...but I said none of the above!

"F87 bro unhappy with my car/life", that's funny, and likely someone pecking away at their gaming keyboard from your mom's basement, Twinkie in hand. Writing this from my dream garage, in a house I never imagined myself owning, standing in front of two cars I'd have posters of on my wall if I was a kid again...but all good man, as an F87 M2 CS owner, I don't feel the need to get defensive about anything, so fire away! Now let me go back inside and have breakfast with my gorgeous wife and two lovely daughters...you may not see this for a few hours as you were probably up late playing video games and watching po*nhub, so when you finally get around to chugging that Monster energy drink, just know, I won't see your reply, I'm done here, utter waste of life.

Have a good one man, enjoy!

I personally want to thank you as well for giving me the opportunity to speak my mind / the truth...I really appreciate that. So many of us feel compelled to stay quiet and be respectful, keeping our real thoughts on the newer BMWs to ourselves...it's a personal choice, and I respect that, but it meant a lot to me to be able to speak my mind, as I know so many of us BMW purists cringe at the sight of so many BMWs rolling off lots now. Anyways, thanks again, enjoyed the chat...take care!

Yeah…zero at the 3 dealers around me. Even independent dealers don’t have any. I am probably in a smaller market than many of you guys though.

Hope this will get you in the club NewToM.
Here you go again. Seriously the biggest prick in the 15 years I’ve been on various BMW forums. Give it a break man geez

I think you forgot that the car market existed before Covid and supply chain issues. There weren’t large incentives on most M cars before Covid, and there won’t be large incentives as the market “normalizes” either.

They are basically giving away G82’s now because of the G87. One guy I know got 12k off sticker on a G82.

Yes, I do own an i4.
Tell me how it's worse putting a kid in a rear facing seat in a 4 door vs 2 door, where the 4 door has a longer wheelbase?

Cargo volume is higher in the i4. Move the cover out of the way. You can remove it.

My sons can ride in the back of the i4 (5'8 and 5'9") no chance for any comfort in the G87. The i4 has a wider back seat. Oh and in a pinch you can put 3 small adults in the back.

I know exactly what I'm buying. I have been spending a good time in the forums lately because I plan to buy a G87. I spend a good time in the I4 forums because I own one. I used to own a E90. Not sure your point.

The M2 is most definitely less practical than the i4/440 chassis. 2 less doors. Hatchback with a removable shelf. When the seats fold you have absolutely more storage.

But I digress. My point iny.post was not to bash the G87, I was commenting on a previous post that if you are worried about a $500 discount or the interest rates affecting your purchase ability or choice for this car, then it's probably not the most practical car to buy.

I get that F87 owners want to cling desperately to what’s left of their residuals by bashing the G87 (it won’t happen), but objectively the G87 is a better car in every single way, there’s no valid argument there so it’s just not necessary. What happened to just “BMW pride”? Save the criticism for Merc and Audi.

Exactly.

Delears aren't going to stock M2, M3, M4 cars in any configuration people are likely to want. They will be basic. No individual color, not all the options. The only time my local dealers get anything interesting is when someone either walks away from an ordered car or they get a low mileage trade. Otherwise most M cars from dealer stock are boring.

And why would you buy an M car off the floor unless there is a.discount? If you aren't getting a massive.deal. Why not get exactly what you want by ordering?

I don’t know why both the F87 and the G87 people can’t appreciate each others cars more. Both amazing cars in different ways! That’s why I have both because they complement each other perfectly and both put a smile on my face when I drive them.

Can’t confirm as I’ve never gone on the F87 page. It does seem that most people just come here to shit on the G87 rarely have anything else to add.

The only BMW's readily available in my area are i4/5/7's and X5's. Every M2 is sold before it hits and maybe, just maybe an M3/4 sits on a lot for 1 week.

I’m in Seattle. I’d say 80% of the vehicles available are SUVs and i4s. There is 1 M2 and about 10 M4 available.

For me, I've owned E30 M3 with car seat in the back. E36 M3 with two car seats and a E90 335i with two car seats.

I have been around the M2 and if I need to cart additional folks 2+, I'll use my i4. I will probably never use the back seat in the M2 or even the trunk.
