Shame this happened just 2 weeks after I finished break-in… hopefully they can match the paint as well as yours.
Some people suck!

If you played with legos as a kid, cars are pretty easy to take apart & put back together. It's just screws & clips that hold all these plastic pieces together.

Should have seen the shit I built… wouldn’t trust me taking apart an RC car.

Thanks for that. Do you think I could just take the bumper cover away in the affected area or would or would it need a full removal of the cover?

Start by removing the wheel & wheel well liner on that side. You may be able to see if any clips are bent or broken. If you see any, you can then determine how much of the cover needs to be disconnected/loosened for you to be able to fix the affected area. I wouldn't recommend "pulling" the bumper cover away from the area as it's just plastic & is susceptible to warping. If that makes sense.

This would be my concern, as well, if you just released part of the bumper and cause any stress on it by pulling. If you did, you may find another gap or fitment issues when putting all back together.

I'll be reviewing this when I put on my diffuser soon. Just need to get the ol' 2 year service done first so the dealer doesn't have the opportunity to fu$# anything up.

Well done and thanks for posting + sharing all the details.

I recently was rear ended and looking to perform the same task. Curious, where did you end up getting the bumper cover from?

I am most likely going with an aftermarket diffuser but looking for a color matched bumper cover (mine is black).

Purchased the new rear bumper cover from www.bmwpartswarehouse.com (BMW of San Francisco).
