24 with ID 8, park up when the car is warm, engine running, open the window or door, sport mode, switch iconic on/off, you can hear the valve moving.

I have to correct the record here.
I coded ASD off in bimmercode, but the ASD is not actually off until you disable additional ASD settings in expert mode. I switched ASD completely off today, just drove the car around and heard very few if any burbles, and much less exhaust noise which WAS actually coming from the speakers still. Anyway, clearly BMW does a pretty good job spoofing the exhaust sounds because I had a hard time telling. I was worried about installing my aftermakret exhaust becuase the car was so lound in sport stock... now I know that was all fake noise.
