I'll incude the case study and the work I've done.

I appreciate the responses guys. Thanks
the 0's and 1's aren't a bad thing, they aren't technically whole numbers, in reality they are something like .00000000001 or .9999999999, but excel just rounds because there is really no difference. When it returns 0 it means that there is basically a 0% chance of something occurring.

Ex. your fixed annuity would never return more than 20%, the std dev is tiny,so excel returns a 0 (E2). Also there is a 100% chance that it will return more than 5% so it displays a 1 in the cell (D2).

I would take another look at G, H, and I. You must have messed up a sign in the formula because your are essentially saying that all of the investments are likely to have a negative return. All of the probabilities are >75%. You need to subtract the values from 1 to get the answers.

You need to think these through, 99% chance of a t-bond losing >20% doesn't make sense (I4).

It makes sense now!

I can't do anything about G because the X value I'm using is 0. But I corrected H and I. The probability of those two are much more realistic now. Putting it in words helped a lot! Thanks!

Now that part one is done, I have to move on to part two. But there isn't anything in the book or the powerpoints over part two. I'm guessing that I just need to make up my own problem and the solutions? My prof is fresh off the boat from Africa and it's his first semester teaching. I'm trying to cut him some slack but he's not doing a very good job of going over this stuff!

I know dude they suck. But I think my prof knows he isn't that great because he is so new, he give his exams open note, open book. But they are still hard as hell! I got a 93% on my first exam and an 89% on my second exam.

I'll post up the correct answers to the case study after I get out of class.

Statics seem pretty easy to me. Consider rain. There is always a 50/50 chance of rain. It will either rain or it won't.
