Wouldn't make much sense to give the lower model M2 more torque than the base M3/4 so the odds are they will get a bump too. To answer your last question, see here.
Any thoughts or history of BMW offing any of the new tuning to existing models already on the road? Meaning will there be any pathway to having a 23 or 24 M2 remapped? Thanks for info Sir

I've never seen any additional power upgrades offered à la carte for an M car. I wouldn't hold my breath for a factory tune. There's always the aftermarket.

I highly doubt we will see any kind of M-Performance Package with an exhaust and hotter tune like there was in the past.

ynguldyn,
Don't know why this didn't cross my mind sooner but since the base G80/2 are only offered with MT they cannot get the same torque increase as the G87 AT due to the limitations of the MT. I believe BMW marketing figured if you want an AT M3/4 you have to get a M3/4C which for the RWD Comp carries over the same 503hp but the M xDrive models will get the bump to 523hp. Plausible?

Yes, this is the most logical explanation.

Researching into the G87 M2... the MT is a weak link? Sorry if I missed what may be considered as a common knowledge...

(I will only consider the MT)

It is not a problem if you stay with stock torque. It has been used on many models without any significant problems at similar torque levels, over the past decade or more.

I'm just learning how to track in my stock S2000, pretty sure I'll be satisfied with the stock G87 M2 power level.

I’m sure the true Torque limit on the 6MT is much higher than what BMW states, just like their HP #s. They’re being conservative. Plenty of modified manual G8X with no issues. Haven’t seen many posts on failed clutches or transmissions. Regardless, If you’re into modding cars, you know the term “pay to play”, so if you need to upgrade clutch after adding 200 WHP to a car, so be it.

The true torque limit as quoted by ZF as the manufacturer is 600Nm. It doesn't mean it won't take more, but reliability and durability is not guaranteed beyond the quoted spec.

Who cares about 0-60 times? This car isn't for that.

Anyway, will sell my soul for a Twilight Purple on Cognac G87 w/ ZF8 transmission . That would look absolutely perfect next to my E46 M3.

Now the million dollar question is sunroof or carbon roof

Well, it shouldn't, because that isn't what this car is about. That has never been what M cars have been about especially not the small 2+2 coupes like the E30, E36, and E46 M3 as well as the 1M, F87, and now the G87.

If you care about 0-60 times literally just go get a G80 X-drive or F90 M5. Actually, just go buy a Tesla Plaid then if 0-60 is the selling point

A response like that says it all (which doesn't say much). Some feel the G87 is a road race/track car only, WRONG. The G87 has plenty of abilities and the goods to drag race or similar type driving on the street, wherein a 0-60 is important/relevant.

First, lets understand this is a coupe/2 door car in the base price range of the low 60s and delivered, heavily optioned in the low 70s. This is the first BMW M car in this class with this power (no different than a G8X M3/4). Lets not make comparisons to 4 door cars nor cars over $100k and especially not an electric car.

Oh, if it was available as an X drive, yes, may have gone that route but alas it was not so no need to bring it into a discussion.

I have made my point without the need to say more...

Agreed. I was really hoping to get Techno Violet as thee Purple option. Carbon Roof for me as I need the headroom. My noggin bounced off the sunroof frame in the M340i we had.

Yeah, I think just about everyone was hoping for individual paint but its not an option and wont be an option.

That being said, M cars are about the build of the car, its power, suspension, styling/features (inside and out), etc. If individual paint is the most important thing, than best to seek out other models (unless you want to wrap it or have it painted).

I would trade up for individual paint.

I KNOW I am going to get bashed for this as I am not a purist...the one thing that holds me back from a M2 is the very very low end torque...I'm old....I like to light up the rear tires without having to try (brake rev, etc. etc.). If MY25 came with the mild drive hybrid I would love the car...the M340i and M440i have it...love it. Just don't love the cars. In every video I have watched the M lite beats the M off the line and typically about to 1/8 of a mile.....which is when I let off the gas during every day driving. Bash away..lol

Sont let what some may say deter you. Speaking only from the 8AT...I have a bone stock MY23 M240 rwd and comparing to the G87 M2 with just the Valvetronic catback...the M2 would easily light up the tires and smoke the M240.
