How confident is this? Could this mean something other than actually getting Individual? I know if you go to the visualizer, not all options are available on all models with Individual, but having something other than just the base options w/ 1-3 "special" colors would be nice. I'm hoping for something like a British Racing Green.

Could this be a placeholder for something else, or is it a pretty good indication that there will be an Individual option?

Also, I believe there was a theory of an early June announcement for the MY2025. Is that still the idea?
Everything is up in the air.

Is it an LCI? Well, it kind of looks like it from the 2 Series interior changes but the exterior styling and lights appear unchanged. Could be considered LCI-light (not called that by BMW) until they come out with the LCI at some later point.

490 shows up as an option but BMW has been known to make last minute changes or delay them. I also think it's pie in the sky mentality to think you'll get anything like the M3/4 individual options. The SLP plant isn't ready for that, nor do I think BMW would want to offer that level of individual for an entry M car.

I thought we would have the pricing/order guides by now too. Hopefully in the coming days, fingers crossed.

Tag with the MY25 G80 allocations hitting this morning, does that tell us anything more about when the MY25 G87 allocations might be hitting?

based on the M3/4 LCI being essentially a nothingburger, i guess it wouldn't be shocking to see this small refresh as the M2 LCI? feels like BMW is done dumping R&D money into these platforms.

I'd be fine getting the LCI model - thrilled, in fact.

I guess the facelift would come with the future Comp & CS?

What are the main reasons for the appeal of the flat bottom wheel vs the other type? Is it a leg-room thing, or does it provide different functionality? Something that the other M cars have? Steering wheel size/shape/type has never been a thing I have thought about when buying and modifying cars. Just curious.

Pros
Looks (subjective)
Has red center mark
Depending on driver and their driving position it can make ingress/egress easier

Cons
You lose the heated steering wheel button. To turn on heated steering wheel (if optioned) you need to use iDrive or 'Hey BMW'.

maybe i am reading the press release wrong/not assigning enough importance to things? it looks to me:
  • Slight power bumps (may or may not be a "paper" gain)
  • New headlights (probably not an upgrade)
  • iDrive 8.5 (probably a downgrade)
  • New steering wheel (not to my taste, but can see why people want it)
  • new air vents and ambient lighting (yawn)
  • M4 gets new tails
  • 825M option

what was i expecting? some styling tweaks beyond lights, some more performance/experience oriented options (sport exhaust perhaps, that is not from the M performance catalogue?)

i suppose you are right looking at historical precedent (E9X and F8X) when you remove the Comp pack intro for E9X since we technically already have that

edit: considering the G87 may be seeing more substantial changes (additional color options, comp intro, X drive etc) for the LCI, i probably needed to readjust my expectations for the M3/4 in hindsight.

Is 490 also showing up for the LCI 3 series for MY25 since it’s also built for the US market at the Mexico plant?

Well, what happened between the F87 OG --> F87 LCI update? Not much right?

Didn't the S55 and fully upgraded looks / facelift etc happen with the Comp? (not LCI?)

Or am I getting that wrong.

F87 LCI got new head/taillights, interior was revised with new dash, instrument cluster, iDrive update, etc.

F87 M2C received the S55 engine, revised front bumper/grille, new wheels, M side mirrors, M front seats, etc. BMW M boss, Frank van Meel at the time said they had to revise the front bumper to accommodate better cooling for the S55. This was all due to needing to meet new European emissions standards and why they phased out the OG altogether. That was the only reason they changed the front bumper; the rear stayed the same.

Ah, thanks - good info. So that said, MY25 could actually be an LCI if we're talking real small details here. With maybe the big ones coming MY26.

I'm not convinced it's a full blown LCI. If it had updated head/taillights, then I'd say yes but they appear to be unchanged. We'll know soon enough...

$4500 I'd think. If you pull a VIN on an M4 with a semi indie color like Tanzanite you don't get a 490 option code...or at least I'm not seeing it.

Please, do us all a favor...go buy an M4 or M240 and post in their forums.

Why is that so? I figured 8.5 might be a better option in the long run due to the faster hardware. but the main reason i prefer it over 8 is for the climate control.

Agreed, the climate menu in 8.5 is far superior, and believe it or not that’s more important to me than the stability of my CarPlay connection (which I see lots of complaints about).

Weird that you guys are being so abrasive to someone irritated at a lack of brown color option for interior.

The black with red/blue/whatever highlights looks "boy racer" to me in a way that I don't care for. It's a personal preference and they (we) have every right to be annoyed by it.

I don't want an M4 because I don't want to spend the $270/month on insurance that I was quoted for it, otherwise I would. I would literally buy a used 911 and pay almost half that in insurance before I bought an M4, just out of principle. We pay nearly 6 figures a year in auto insurance alone for our business and I'm not giving these fucks any more that I have to, and if that means no M4, then it means no M4.

If there is a "normal adult" interior color for the MY25 G87, and Individual, I might still be interested.

If there's not, then BMW didn't push me to an M4. They pushed me to Porsche.
