So it looks like I'm back to square one deciding between the AA or fabspeed. OR i may just gamble with the MAD 200 cell with an O2 sensor spacer and hopefully that will prevent a CEL, at least for a bit. I've heard people having luck with no CELs for a while but obviously they're prob on borrowed time with that.
I can help with all three brands

Sucks, cause they’re an affordable alternative.
Maybe defective or a bad design. PLM would need to check it and see what is going on

OP
im not sure if you got it from us but if you did, you should use our return form to request sending it back and get a refund

Yah, def disappointing tbh. Both shops confirmed the same thing that once one of the downpipes is hooked up, it prevents the other from hooking up as that pipe then comes in contact with some other engine components (eg the transmission tunnel) in the bay or it prevents that downpipe and the exhaust from matching up. They tried removing some of the more unnecessary casing but it still didn't work. I asked if it was the valvetronic full exhaust that may be the issue but both shops confirmed (and fabspeed as well when I reached out to them about their 200 cell option) as long as the exhaust hooks up to OEM downpipes the aftermarket downpipes should hook up with the exhaust.

Yes, I bought through you guys. . PLM has been pretty responsive and helpful but I haven't heard back from them about brining in an g87 to test their downpipes early this week. The downpipes do seem high quality and it says EPA approved on the pipes but I suspect maybe not much testing had been done on the g87 (if any) and maybe just the g80/g84 had been tested/developed on. the g87 engine bay is a bit different and tighter.

So I started the return process through you guys and you have been extremely helpful and responsive. Will purchase my next downpipes through you for sure now... Leaning MAD 200 at this point and gamble with the CEL. Just gotta research a good 02 sensor spacer to attempt to avoid the CEL.

Thank you for the kind words, the support team are excellent at what they do, but please feel free to let me know if you need any help.

I just had an issue with AA downpipes.
Pre cat O2 sensor failure. When my shop looked at it, turns out there was a fitment issue with o2 sensor resting against turbo. Upon contacting AA turns out they were aware of this issue and have since redesigned flange on the DP for more space. They sent a replacement proper DP asap under warranty, which I appreciate.
Sucks I was out $ for new sensor and DP labor, but so it goes with modding.

Originally purchased through x-ph, but I went straight to AA for warranty.

Figure good if you’re aware of this mike@x-ph.com

So Im going to pick up the Mad 200 cell through your website. But do I want to order either option with the downpipes: "turbo to downpipe v band clamps" or "turbo to downpipe gasket"?

I make a habit of changing hardware to eliminate the possibility of rattling or leaks, but the car is practically brand new, so you should not need new hardware

yes, I went with the 200 cell catted dps from mad, paired with an valvetronic full titanium exhaust. They had to shave down the downpipes a bit to get a secure fit on the engine side.

It is obnoxiously loud on cold start but quiets down after the engine warms up. I don't notice too much of a difference in sound when driving it normally. when I give it some beans and past 4k then the dp sound kicks in. its prob just a tad raspy for my taste, although I think most would disagree and love the sound.

as for speed difference, I don't notice too much but I was already at around 550-575 hp before the install so another 10-15 hp isn't as noticeable if it were stock.

In summary, and this is probably a bit sacrilege to the "all you need is downpipes and a tune" crowd, but this is the first mod I'm not 100% happy I made (still glad they're installed tho). but its debatable whether the sound is improved enough (I'm firmly in the louder is not necessarily better camp) or the speed increase is enough to deal with any potential CEL (none yet), emissions/registration issues, warranty negating, or other general problems that can happen with moding. Perhaps when I do a full ecu unlock then I can reap the full advantages of the downpipes and appreciate them more.

im running the stock downpipes with the MAD catback, im very happy with the sound.

Since I have bootmod3 now and can turn off the cold start, I will upgrade to the MAD catted downpipes and their resonated midpipe.

Did you go femto for the ECU unlock? And does bootmod3 account for sport or catless downpipes and prevent a CEL or would someone have to go custom tune for that?

(Asking because I know a CEL will eventual come with my 200 cel dps and I'll want eventually do a ECU unlock with a flash rather than the jb4 piggyback I'm running now. Want to fully take advantage of my downpipes and s58 engine)

I went with Femto.
You can clear the CEL from the settings, you dont need a custom tune

Cat cores are German made by HJS. Its core quality that determines CEL or not
