Here is my advice- Pick your tires first and then pick your wheels. There are more tire options with 19" but an 18" combo is a few pounds lighter as GT3M2 and I verified. A staggered setup will have a more stock look and drive (if you can really tell the difference). A square setup allows you to rotate your tires after each track day and will likely result in getting 3-4 additional track days out of a set of tires. I am fitting 295's with no spacer and no rubbing and I am slightly lowered. 305's are absolutely doable. Apex is the way to go. They do a lot of work to verify fitment and the extra work on the lip and warranty set them apart from other wheel manufacturers. I will hopefully be at ECR with Driver's Edge on Oct 7th and COTA with Edge Addicts on Nov 18th if you want to see my setup. |

Thanks for that information.
I am actually a member at ECR so we should definitely get together sometime, I think I am allowed to bring a guest. Thinking about going 19's with a staggered setup but I figured with 18's I will have better tire options that are more cost effective. I have driven GT3's and other cars on track, but when I drove the G87 for the first time at ECR a few months ago, fell in love. a few seconds less on the track than my 992 GT3 but arguably more fun, just needed better brakes (for conversation purposes, I did 52 laps so by the end of it the rotors, brake pages, and fluid were toast) along with tires. Trying to keep this as a balance between a fun daily when needed and a track monster. Apex is defiantly the wheels I want to go with along with the AP Racing kit, but waiting for rears to be finished. |

ZPD has some on his car not sure what brand. Current options are turner, vorshlag, millway, afaik. I think most people will go millway due to nvh concerns. I kept the spacers on car for that reason but if I get through track weekend with 0 rub I will try them on lift to see. -GT3M2 |

I haven't seen a G87 on black wheels yet. Our sample sets are Anthracite and Brushed Clear. The same fitments are found on the g80 if you want to see the profile of the matching wheels:

It's not just the increase in width of the tire, it's also the increase in wheel width and reduction in offset that play a role in that rubbing. The good thing is that during most driving conditions on the street, you won't have that much steering angle applied and it will not rub at high speeds. -Tom

Im going for an OE+ setup without affecting the cars stock geometry too much so I’m concerned that 19x10 with ET12 is a bit too much in the front. 15mm positive scrub + the tyres rubbing on full lock are making me reconsider.
ET15-17 with 19x10 would have been perfect. Thoughts? |
