It's a promising power plant but no matter what suspension or tires you use, it'll be a PITA to put the power down. I believe the current M2 is one of those cars that has a certain sweetspot and although you can get more power better that you don't.

Have you tried to power down 1st gear so that u can get better traction off the line? I have always had off the line issues with rwd when going stage1/2 tune. I bought an m4 with x drive for this reason as much as i understand the intent of BMW and rwd fun.

Not really, no. My F80 has been tuned since 2018. I do use torque reduction in the first two gears, but that is just to make the car easier to maneuver around neighborhood streets. I never do launches simply because I’m not into that sort of thing, but the car sees 5-6 track events per year and the drivetrain has never put a foot wrong so to speak.

Tune away…

Before I flashed the stage 1 tune, I got some 0-60 & 60-130 times with the dragy.

Even stock, I had trouble finding a good stretch of pavement where I could get traction for the 0-60 times (around 4.5s)

60-130, my best time was 10.03s -stock.

After I flashed the stage 1 tune, it became pretty apparent that traction is going to be the biggest issue when chasing horsepower (wish we got xDrive )

Overall, pretty happy with how the car is performing for just a stage 1 OTS tune. I was able to take off more than 1 second on my 60-130 times but 0-60 was negligible because of traction.

The car definitely feels faster than my M3 Comp. So I’m curious what the dyno will tell.

I understand that unlocking the DME and tuning the car isn’t for everyone. So no need for negative comments

As always, happy to answer any questions!

I see on the bm3 website that they don’t have an option for the s58 m2. Are you just buying the ots map off the m3/m4 option and using that?

Interested to see those on the car. Maybe a chunky wheel like that will suit the chunky styling of the G87.
