Here is a screenshot of the invoice: I'm personally quite frustrated with the satellite radio deletion. That's my primary method of listening to music in my vehicle as it's quicker and easier than trying to use Spotify or stream through your phone, plus more reliable IME. Alexa + Amazon music that I have in my current vehicle has been the best alternative that I've used so far though, so I'm really hoping they include Alexa functionality at least. Not good one horsepower & thx for posting, quick question if anyone knows
SiriusXM is a show stopper for me, if that is removed from my Build I heard can that be added later by BMW dealer when parts/chips are available. Also, if so what is estimated Cost?? also, since evidently BMW is still pre-wiring the vehicle for Satellite, where is the Sirius chip located that dealer can install later once parts are available, in other words how easy is this to install later on??? thanks

Lower Spec Receiver Audio Module is a plausible answer. Follow here as well: https://x3.xbimmers.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1861065

My guess would be that the RAM needs to be swapped. I believe that's what processes the SiriusXM signals. Shouldn't be too hard to do but the part probably isn't cheap.

I spoke with both my GM and one of my sales managers today; they were both unaware of the SiriusXM deletion entirely. I'm going to reach out to my BMWNA area manager and see if they can assist me in getting in contact with someone at BMWNA who may be able to provide some better answers about what exactly the deletion entails and if installation at a later date is possible/what will be required. Maybe it's just my lack of knowledge of how the iDrive system works, but I'm wondering if there also won't be software that needs to be configured as well? Will satellite be an available "source", but just have no connection, or will it be gone from the iDrive system entirely?
I'm also going to speak with my service manager and see if they can provide a ballpark estimate for having the RAM installed at a later date for vehicles that are listed as "SiriusXM Prepped". Hopefully I will be able to report back with some more solid answers tomorrow. |

thanks one HP... I spoke to my Sales rep yesterday on phone & then he spoke to both his manager & service manger. This delete issue was new to them but did say was possible for install afterwards but with new G42 chassis wasn't sure what or had to be changed out. Also clueless about estimated price, we of course will receive only a lousy $350 credit. I stated the interior is very similar to the 3 & 4 series so would think be same install. Evidently they have never done one.
BMW should put out a How to Video to all dealers for install w/Satellite prep and ask dealers to keep price down w/only a $350 credit we are receiving... ha-ha

So this is what I've found out so far. My dealer's HEA G42, which currently has a status of being at the processing center (or VDC, basically the port; the final step before being delivered to the dealer) has an open stop sale notice for a radio access module. The stop sale states that most vehicles will have the RAM installed at the VDC before delivery to the selling dealer. However, this HEA car also has the SiriusXM radio billed out on the invoice as normal, it does not show as a "delete". It seems to me that the vehicles that have SiriusXM billed on them as normal will be held (and not be available for sale) until the parts are available to install to deliver the car as billed. However, my personal build which is still in the order bank waiting for our next G42 allocation still shows the "SiriusXM Delete" line on the invoice. It's not clear to me yet if vehicles listed as having the delete will be included in the stop sale or not. I am hoping so, but not holding my breath. I can however confirm all vehicles with the delete are still listed as having "satellite radio preparation". I spoke with an advisor on the cost of installing, or swapping out the RAM (as appears will maybe be the case if their plan is to install a lowe grade RAM). I was given an estimated cost of $475 (ish) without having the full details on what labor/parts will actually be involved. I'm still hoping to speak to someone at BMW NA who may be able to provide some more solid answers. I will report back if I do. |

Thanks - it is a production number, and I have now found the vehicle build on the BMW website. The website shows that the vehicle is in the Quality Check step of production. When I scroll through the options, etc., it shows SiriusXM 1 year subscription among the standard features of the vehicle. I also ordered the Harmon Kardon surround sound option, which interestingly is listed within the 'M-Sport Package Pro' cluster.
I guess I'll find out what's so when the vehicle is delivered to my dealership in Connecticut. |
