I really like the Alpha N with the raised center section and flat design best. But not thrilled about the 3 piece design and price. I get the price but for a splitter that could get damaged easily replacement cost would be higher. With so many aftermarket companies I can't keep track of them as anyone seen something like this Alpa N version.
Thanks. |

Kind of off topic, but how do you all think carbon fiber holds up to autocross cone hits vs abs? Will it just shatter?
My G42 AutoID abs splitter has taken a few hits (and occasional driveway scrape) and frankly acted like additional protection for the bumper. Still looks in decent shape. I hate cleaning the winglets and trying to decide what to do for the G87. |

Depending on your car color, they look great. I've seen Maxton parts on black cars, and it flows nicely. Yes, they don't have the same pop as a CF splitter, but does the job nicely. I've always preferred a lip I don't have to worry about as much vs one I'm flinching every time I take a dip in the road, or steeper ramp. At the Maxton pricepoint it's worth taking a risk and seeing how you like it IMHO.

This is just a random question to ask, but when can we expect for a cheaper front lip to be released? I will most likely be receiving my M2 within 2-3 months and looking for a decent front lip. I am loving TRE and Unit 17 products, but really don't want to spend $1,200 as I will most likely break one within 1-2 years..

Welcome to BMW M ownership and the world we now live in (you may find a cheaper one in time (quality unknown) for a couple or few hundred dollars less but dont expect to find a quality cf lip for $500. |

Plenty of decent lips to be had for ~$500 on eBay, just need to be ok with the risk. Some will end up being better than $1k lips.

Personally, I have had just as bad luck from eBay or similar as more reputable suppliers. Maybe just an ounce of better luck with reputable shops. Reality is, almost everything is sourced from China and depending on volume requested, they almost always come from the 10 or so large companies there.
I have ran into horrible fitment issues, bad weaves, cracks, and all time hated one, pealed clear coat (not once but twice from the same supplier). My recent purchase about two years ago, I took the plunge and sourced directly from one of the big Chinese distributors, happy two report they're perfectly fine. Just my .02, you get what you pay for but it's not always the case here. |
