Take the N54, with a very low boost threshold, but with a rather annoying turbolag. The N55 with twinscroll technology has improved the situation a lot. Or take the three turbo cars in the video: the RS3 has the lowest boost threshold of the three, but the highest turbo lag, mainly due to the poor, dated intake design - and the worst gearbox, which is why the result is poor in this comparison, but the potential is very high -. The S58 and 45AMG have similar behavior, but at a different level. That 2.0l is astonishing, AMG knows how to make engines. |

They do for sure! I think they have the highest HP 2.0L mass production engine in the world, over 400 HP.
Edit: yeah the M139 engine is 416 HP. Bonkers. Last edited by Squidget; 07-10-2023 at 05:37 PM.. |

As much as it is an inevitable comparison that would come sooner or later, there is not much to be surprised about.
It's a 3.0 twin-turbo vs a 4.0 NA vs a 2.5 turbo vs a 2.0 (!) turbo, how else could it have gone? I would have been surprised otherwise. This race neither celebrates the M2 nor denigrates the others, it just shows what everyone expected to happen. I was more interested in the (sub)challenge between A45 and RS3 than anything else. |
