Per Motor Trend, "This special sensation is what the 1M most lacks, but that's not to say it disappoints. It is perhaps one of the most entertaining cars since the Z3-based M Coupe: light, involving, and bonkers quick. It appeals to our purist mentality, the little guy in the white racing suit inside who takes pride in having nonexistent interior appointments and no extraneous options, who thinks making a car ugly to make it functional is cool, and who gains a sense a pride from having only three colors, and one interior and transmission option. The 1M signals a return to driving-focused enjoyment, not to mention it's as fast as the M3 and costs way less.

But is it better? Lieberman and I agree: No. This big, heavy, and expensive M3, with its unflappable confidence and lascivious powertrain, is the car we want, the car we'll remember as the best of the naturally aspirated Ms. It's the one we'll tell young gearheads about in a few decades with the same fondness and reverence as given its E30 ancestor. The 1M doesn't measure up to the M3's standard. Few cars do."

At Hockenheim the 1M was faster than M3 E92, TT RS, 987 Cayman S (MT).. And the M3 has 80hp more (on the paper)..

I can comprehend nobody want's to pay a high price for these cars in an objectively consideration. Small car, unreliable N54 engine, difficult to drive fast.
On the other hand i never had a car which is well received like this one. Anywhere you go you get thumbs up from so many people. The appearance of this car is pretty unique - Many people do not even know the "hulk" of the E82. It looks like a built car but it's stock..

The biggest regret of my motoring life is not having bought a new M3 E92 when I could, preferring the 1M.
I'd probably still have it now.

Kept mine for 11 years. I may jump back in and grab a 4 door E90 M3. Miss that V8. E90 looks more aggressive than my e92 M3.

I disagree. The one in the video has vents the Active E one does not.

The hood has vents. Real 1M does not. You are not going to modify a 1 of 1 car. Also, some people think it’s the Active E hood. Again - no vents and why modify?
