2) a slightly used M2 sold on BAT with buckets for low 60s so theoretically you could avoid the $5k fee and get a very low mileage, well optioned M2 for low 60s or a new one for 65. I’ve seen a couple unsold here for that price. 3) factor in a likely ADM and tax which here is 7.5% and OTD it’s 2x the base M2 price quite easily. And I am seeing $118k as the low end for sticker new GTS around here before ADM. $120k with OTD around $135k is not out of the question so compared to a reasonable M2 OTD of 70 that’s ALMOST twice the price. $118k GTS - OTD $135k $68k M2 - OTD $73k Go to your local Porsche dealer and see if you can get one without ADM. Taxes alone puts it at near double. I’ve looked at a dozen GTS and they’re all above $117k. |

Deep passion for how other people may choose to spend their money.. in particular from someone calling himself 'Carefree' -- most peculiar.
This thread is full of people.. a significant majority of whom appreciated the comparison. Unhinged to be so bothered by it. |

What is the general consensus on the stock M2 sound?
I wasn’t a fan of how the S55 sounded in my F80, and I’m not sure how different the S58 is (somewhat in the same range, at least based on YouTube videos) but I’ve never heard one revved in anger personally. The stock sound of my 718 Spyder was abysmal. An inconel OAP / rear section swap made a considerable difference, but it wasn’t cheap. EDIT - I’m trying to get myself a Spyder RS, because that’s the REAL GT engine for this platform…cost be damned.

The new M2 is a more serious machine for sure - wider, longer, more powerful. But (hopefully) still small enough to be a laugh.

It really takes things to a much more sophisticated level of driving You can throw the car at just about anything it just goes and goes and goes and doesn’t even whimper And the brakes are off the chain

As owner of 2019 M2C 6spd and 2024 Boxster s 6 spd, no question M2 is a faster car, beefier feel, able to get that rear end loose easier.
718 much lighter and in my estimation a way different car- very difficult to compare. Love them both in different ways, try to drive them in spirited way, and use as daily at times, mostly summer. My verdict is the M2 is a more engaging drive with real feel. Haven’t driven 2023 M2 but as it is heavier than my 19, I’ll have to get back to you on that… |

Sound of the Cayman engine in driver’s seat was very fatiguing on a test drive. Related to cabin/ car design, undeniably.
Can imagine worse on a long drive….

It’s incomprehensible that people are currently paying $100,000 for a 4 cyl Porsche. There must be some strong kool aid being served in those fancy Porsche dealerships. I mean, the “style edition” is swanky and cool, butttt….. |

I test drove the M2 in Germany and the 718. Both are impressive. But the price is out of control for both of those in Germany. It’s almost 10-20k more. Nevertheless, for the money, nothing beats the 6spd Camaro ZL1. That car is a beast and this is just me, I would rather take the ZL1 to the track followed by the M2 and the 718 last. Maybe it’s because the M2 had a stick. Just me. If I could afford it, I would have all three. All great cars and have their respect on the track.

Leave it to GM to get rid of a car that was affordable and probably one of their better cars and move the architect of that Camaro to building the Chevy Bolt!

I understand that 100% but really there’s not very many cars in the same performance segment so this comparison is very valid in my opinion
