The conflict is that i am also trying to become more financially savvy, and lately my significant other, and I have decided to go part time at work (because of the constant high stress) and do more traveling. The M2 has been a dilemma because it’s a relatively big expense with pretty hefty taxes and insurance.
The objective was to convey to the dealer that I am excited to see the car and they have a trade-in, but also a little hesitant at the same time because I have not test driven an M2. But only a 240i. Of the luxury car manufacturers I have the very least experience with BMW, except for a family owned z3M in estoril which was a hoot.
Anyways, the negativity is awakening. I understand myself and the dealer Have a mutually blas’e attitude, but it’s a big purchase and I would’ve expected a little more courtesy out of them since I did have $1000 invested. To at least wait for my long weekend trip to conclude. Sheesh

Healthcare yes! No student debt. I have a very comfortable net worth so I’m able to decrease time at work and increase my time with family and hobbies. Which is priority #1. Control of your time is the true definition of rich and happy.
The R8 - My dad doesn’t give af about cars so it was definitely not his. But he did take it for 50 mile drive one time without telling me. 😂
If a customer seems uncertain about a car, the salesman should be doing their part to sell the car and earn the customers business.

The R8 was an exotic car, and in a different class from an M2. I would fully expect a bmw dealer to allow me to evaluate it thoroughly before making a purchase.
You can tell a lot from a vehicle from a simple 5-7 mile test drive. I have been able to eval all my other sports car purchases with a test drive. EXCEPT There was the time I drunkenly bought a 69 Corvette stingray at auction without power steering, and my arms are in pretty good shape now from driving that. amazing clutch feel on that transmission btw.

I don't understand going to a web forum to inquire about "losing your $1k deposit"... A simple call to the dealer will almost always get that reversed in seconds, and worst case a call to your credit card company to file a dispute.
