I had a chance to attend The Mustang Bucket List Tour event to checkout and test drive the new Mustang.
They had the following cars on display: 2015 Ford Mustang EcoBoost with Premium Package in Competition Orange, Triple Yellow, Race Red and Ruby Red colors. 2015 Ford Mustang GT with Performance Package in Triple Yellow Only the EcoBoost were available for a brief test drive. Few videos I made of the event:

I think the GT350 is going to really compete with the M4 performance-wise.
I too believe even if only marginally that the 2015 GT should be able to outrun the 2011 GT in the quarter. Yes it's a much better car overall but that is just one of the benchmarks it should hit IMO. |

The GT350 is going to smash the M4. It will be in a different league. It is supposedly getting a 5.2L normally aspirated V8 with a flat plane crank, producing 600+hp. There is going to be a carbon fiber wheel option with 19x11 front and 19x11.5 rear. The GT350 is going to be a track monster. There will be Mustang variants under the GT350 that compete with the M4.

Really just the tires. A square setup on compounds like the Goodyear Eagle F1 G2s, which generate a huge amount of grip when warm for a non-track compound, is pretty darn suited for track work. I don't think the suspension work makes the 1LE more track oriented; if anything the S550 looks undersprung.

I test drove the 2.3L EB/auto/premium/no performance pack. To answer your question, the mirrors are perfect. They look great from the outside and they cover the blind spots thanks to a partitioned bubble mirror (or whatever those things are called). Came with BLIS and a backup camera (standard). No issues.
Haven't bothered doing a write up because the car was set up exactly the opposite of the one I intend on ordering: 5.0L GT/manual/premium/PP/Recaros. To keep it short, I loved everything that should carry over to my spec, and I was only okay with everything else that I wouldn't end up ordering.

I just sat in one the other day V6. The dealer had about 5 cars, no EBs though, and every one had a sign "Unfortunately test drives are not yet available for the 2015 Mustang."
I found the mirrors very small and the blindspot section too small to really give you any perspective (it's a bit bigger than a quarter). But, I did not use them in a dynamic situation since unfortunately test drives were not yet available for the 2015 Mustang at that dealership. |

The package itself is $1000 more, the tires are wider, tires are track oriented where as Mustang tires are for street, suspension on 1LE is stiff compared to Mustang (thats what reviews say)
its easy to make a car faster on the track but it has to be an excellent daily driver too Last edited by Kolyan2k; 10-24-2014 at 01:28 PM.. |

I finally got to see these new Mustangs in real life for the first time yesterday. Probably could have taken a 6MT 5.0 out for a test drive but I wasn't too interested.
What I liked: - Looks way better in real life. I really really didn't like the rear of the car in the pics, but it looks decent. One of them had a lip spoiler on the trunk and that made it so much nicer. The front, I've always liked - Pretty nicely loaded at $40k. Had cooled seats which actually worked - Rims looked awesome for stock car What I didn't like - Cheap plastics. The dash itself was half decent and I could probably live with it. But then there were some hilariously cheap trims. As in even Kia interiors are nicer. Next time you guys take a look at these cars, look at things like the A-pillar trim or door panels. - It's bloody HUGE. I could be wrong, but it seriously felt about the same size as a V10 M6. That lone makes me lose interest in the car. Somehow, while being that big, when I'm in my driving position (I'm 5"10), the rear seats were useless. Nothing like the E92 where you could actually fit 4 adults. Anyway, I'm still interested to see what the GT350 does, it definitely sounds exciting. But this is not really the car I'm looking for just because of its sheer size. I'm looking to add something much smaller to the E92. Overall, it's one of the few American cars that I'd actually have consider. I think this should be a successful car though

^^^agree with you on most of that. the rims are very nice for oem. pretty decent looking car overall, but it's WAY bigger than it needs to be on the outside, and then you get inside and it's claustrophobic! not sure how they manage this trick year after year?? if ford is aiming to capture a euro market share, this is not the car to do it.

Well I've now had a chance to drive both a 6AT Ecoboost and a 6MT GT. The difference is night and day between the two. I'm completely sold on the GT. Coming from a near-loaded E92 335i, there's not too much more I can ask for with this car.
Would I like it to be a solid 300lbs lighter? Sure, at least on paper so it eases my mind. Could I feel much of a difference on the road, and did it feel like it weighed 3700+ pounds? Not at all. I've driven heavy cars with curbs around the S550's weight, but this felt taut and controlled by comparison. Dimensionally speaking, it felt incredibly wide, and the hood is something new to get used to. I felt like I was eating up another 15% of the lane compared to what I'm used to, but the driving position is great and the steering column is even more adjustable than mine. There was a huge dose of drama and emotional connection with this car that my 335i has never come close to giving me. That's what you get when you ditch an efficient, boring TTI6 and go for a good ol' atmos V8. I'm planning on getting this car ASAP. It will be a GT premium with a performance pack and all of the fixings save for ACC and the reverse sensors. I can't wait to get into the domestic aftermarket where the prices aren't insane. This thing will be a great project. It'll get a set of PSSs, a solid coilover set once I see what's proven after the guinea pigs get there hands on it, and of course I'm going FBO and finding the most obnoxious catback I can find. I can understand that the crowd on this site won't be too happy with a car like this, but it's the one for me. Now... to order the car and wait 8-12 weeks, or make a trip to Orlando and buy the one in exactly the specification I'm looking for. First world problems.

As far as the giant expanse of aluminum that spans the IP, the base V6 rocks some kind of textured plastic, the base EB and GT have some kind of patterned smooth aluminum, the premier has brushed aluminum, the performance package has a really cool turned aluminum pattern, and the 50th anniversary AP has some kind of spun aluminum pattern. The latter two look great imo. Aside from that, there's still some cheap parts in any configuration, like the plastic that frames the nav and HVAC controls, the brightwork that's chrome instead of polished, and the A-pillars like you mentioned (those little tweeters or whatever stick out like warts). I'm still really happy with how far it's come though. This will be my interior in loaded spec. Unfortunately, the Recaros lose the heating/cooling feature so you get filler buttons in the HVAC cluster. And here's the outgoing Mustang to give you some kind of idea as to how far its come from its bargain bin roots.

Yup, I see a huge difference there. I actually need to go drive one soon just to see first hand. They have definitely come a long way. Shame it's so big though.

Have seen a couple this week on the road and they do look better in person. Despite looking similar to the outgoing model if you don't really know Mustangs, tHey really do stand out on the road and the GT I was next to sounded great....
I stopped by the Merc dealer and really liked the interior of the new C400 but the idea of a quiet, somewhat boring automatic was not for me. As "low-brow" as the GT might be to some, especially to the badge whores, I'm guessing it will be MUCH more fun to drive and put a bigger smile on your face than many of the cars people around here consider to be so superior. Congrats Year_End. Post some picts when you get it! |

Good stuff man, let me know how you like it. Have you seen the RTR? My SS is supposed to start production this week but that RTR has me seriously considering eating the deposit.
