How many people are going to buy the base car then upgrade later (or imo downgrade. Auto box AWD m2..smh). Anyway you have your answer.

First 2 years you catch the "gotta have it now" folks and in 2 years they'll be back to upgrade.
Also caters for suckers people like me who only keep their cars for about 2 years. I have a G42 now, will (prob) pick up a launch G87 then (prob) be back for the G87 Comp.

I did that last time. Not going to this time even if I can get over the looks. Might just do an M4 or Dark Horse Mustang.

This may very well be me as well. It depends how much the manual grows on me or if I get tired of rowing the gears.

G87 already deviates from G80/G82 by offering auto on Base model. I think people need to stop comparing G87 and G80/G82 lifecycles, it is clear BMW has different plans for G87. Comp model doesn't have to mean auto only.
Yep, just like the F87 CS had the 6MT option but the F80/82 CS didn't

The G87 M2C should come with the 6MT option, fingers crossed for the CS/CSL

Million dollar question…
I'd imagine so because the manual transmission is only rated for 443 lb-ft.

If they purposely detune the M2 base then I could see room for a manual M2 Comp. But if the M2 base is already 406+ lb-ft then that pretty much seals the deal that all other variants will be auto.

BMW has been using the same transmission, derived from the 1M in 2010, in all of the M2/M3/M4 cars. Unlikely they'll change now.

The only way (read: not gonna happen) is if they bring back the manual transmission from the E60 M5.
I think that the limit for their MT is 550nm/406ft-lbs. I beleive the only car that had a MT with more than 550nm was the F10 550i and M5 so probably somewhere their is a transmission that can handle more. Considering the infos we already have I would say that the normal M2 wil have 455hp and the competition will have 473hp both with 406ft-lbs allowing the MT. The question is about the auto competition it might end up with the X3 non comp figures 457ft-lbs.

Tremec 6060 (in the Viper, for instance) doesn't need mods for pushing 800+ HP and 750+ tq.

Are you going to keep anything or just upgrade yourself into an electric self driving car by 2030?

What's you point? You want BMW to put a Tremec in an M2?

Screw the DCT. BMW needs one of these 18 speed guys good for 1,850 lb-ft of torque.

They use the ZF S6-53 transmission which tops out at 443.

Perhaps the $800,000 price tag will be just the slap you needed?
