Pretty sure James liked the RS3 4 years ago as well, when put up against the M2 comp - that's fine, it's a personal choice entirely. Not sure why we were expecting anything different this time... the RS3 is brilliant in its own right..

Secondly, the same thing was said about steering feel with the F87, that it was lacklustre or something to that effect, by Thomas this time, so why are we surprised that feedback continues...

BMW have improved the M2 and the performance is all there to be seen.. the G87 cs will take the F87 cs to the cleaners and that doesn't surprise me one bit. That's the sole aim of new technology - "To improve things"

Off all the comments on that page, yours sounds the most butthurt.

Will just leave this here, and I quote, "This thing is amazing". Coming from guys who were running the Supra previously. No affiliation, no bias, pure driving enthusiasts.

Yep butthurt.

To me Audi's "3" just screams entry level to me. RS3 included. I agree with the front end. There isn't a single view of the car I find appealing. Zero aggressive lines and it's as wide as an A3.

And people think the G87 is ugly.

That RS3 front grille is beyond the pale...

Such an asinine argument that it isn't even worth addressing. Arbitrarily slap a competition badge on a G87 and see how much quicker it is.

The RS3's front is bad, but I think the rear is even worse. The black strip of fake honeycomb is, in my opinion, even more egregious than the front. There are spy shots of a new Audi 3 with these design cues fixed, so let's hope it's the RS3.

Yet you chose to mention it, and ignored what I said about the CS. Don't worry mate, time will tell.

And speaking of asinine arguments, that's exactly what an F87 vs G87 discussion is - we're a whole generation ahead now. Time for the F87 to step aside. Just like with most other generational upgrades across other M performance cars.

But like roid said, pointless arguing this - people will not see reason even if it hits them in the face.

They’re not looking to be convinced. Many just want to argue and rain on the parade.

I own the car. I know how well the car drives and performs. I know how much positive attention my ZB car gets every time I take it out. Not sure what people who call it ugly and slow hope to achieve.

Today while getting my wheels rebalanced, a lady at least in her 60s said "I'm going to look at your car...," And showered love on it. Point is, it attracts positive vibes from more than boy racers (which, ironically, is all some of the loudest trolls are).

I think that is most of the BMW lineup from what I’ve heard. Yes, that even includes the 4 series. They are all striking cars in their own ways. Some more than others ofc haha, but still. I certainly love the look of my car

inb4, "Nobody cares that some random old hag with cataracts loves your car."

It's a tough pill for some people to swallow that 80% of the internet hating on something doesn't equate to how people feel about it in reality.

As a current gen Audi owner & an M2 owner i really do think that RS3 sedan is one ugly looking car. The hatch we get here is waaaay better looking than the sedan but I still couldn’t own a car with bigger tyres on the front than the rear, that’s just wrong.
The RS3 does drive pretty well imo but it’s no M2. The A45 AMG is a far better proposition (recently sold mine) than the RS3 imo but again it’s no M car.
I do wish some M2 owners would calm the f down every time someone says something negative about the car though, it’s not a very mature way to behave. I saw the same thing with M2CS owners when it was released so you can’t say it’s just some G87 owners, reviewers are reviewing the car NOT the owner, don’t take it personally, it’s just an opinion & many reviewers like many owners don’t know shit anyway.
Hell my own wife prefers my Golf GTI over my prized M2.😂

Cue the G87 Comp and CS releases and you all will be crapping on the G87’s obvious flaws. BMW knows how to run this race

I'm probably going to get a lot of hate for this but here we go...

I've watched a lot of reviews about the G87 M2 and I've read pages of reactions on this forum. M2 is not a perfect car and I think people here should be able to take some criticism about their cars. Any reviewer who said anything that wasn't positive about the M2 got called out here and that's ridiculous IMO...they are just stating their opinion and what they want in the car, plus its better to have honest reviews rather than some channels out there who just talk about the positives not to piss anybody off.

That's just my 2 cents to not get mad or defensive about everything.

100% - take the flaws with the positives. But it works both ways, the G87 bashing is uncalled for, as is any F87 bashing. The G87 is in every sense, "The new M2", whether anyone likes it or not. Ask BMW if you don't believe me.

The G87 is a better car performance wise and tech wise.
The F87 is still a good car performance wise but is now old gen by virtue of the G87 being its successor.

Looks are subjective. Comments on looks are opinions, and just that. Some of us love it, some of us don't, as is with everything else in life.

Driving dynamics are subjective. A great example is Thomas v James - former loves his BMWs and the latter his Audis.

Does the G87 have its flaws? Ofcourse. Does the F87 have its flaws? Ofcourse. I don't believe anyone here has ever said the G87 is the best car in the world PERIOD and the same with the F87.

The purpose of this forum is to discuss the car - and along with, anything negative and/or positive said about the car, and one's opinion about it. Beyond that, each to their own. The bashing needs to stop. As long as it doesn't, the defense will continue - it's only normal to want to defend something you believe to be inaccurate.

The last I will say about this.

I see it a little differently and I don't own a G87.

Whether it's a video or in print, most reviews have at least something negative to say and really only a handful have been flamed here. Most of the flaws seem to be subjective... "it's ugly", "less playful", "not what an M2 should be" and so on. It's an objectively better car yet the people that didn't get the new M2 they wanted are having a hard time accepting that they didn't get their way, and that some people prefer it the way it is now.

Reviewers stating their honest opinion is great. They should at least provide accurate specs/info and be as consistent as possible. People here are allowed to give their own opinions on said reviews, otherwise just post the video/article and lock the thread. No need for people to get mad or defensive just because not everyone agrees with their favorite YouTuber.

I was comparing lines 9 and 11 G87 vs SS 1LE both on Cup 2. Only 4/10th of a second, which given day to day variability is essentially a wash, even though the 1LE was a manual, and down on acceleration - must be doing much better in corners.

Totally agree. I have only driven the G87 (M6) on the street and loved it. Felt instantly comfortable in it. I didn't like the long, somewhat rubbery feel of the G87 manual as much as the Tremec on my 1LE, but it was still fine and fun.

I did order the G87 in ZF8. I'm sure I'll miss the manual, but looking forward for the better visibility and ergonomics of the G87.

Completely agree with you G87, SS1LE, Cayman GTS, C8, F87CS, etc, all the cars being discussed here are awesome vehicles.

I still think in terms of bang for the buck the G87 and SS1LE are top of the class. A ton of value for the $$$ if you want a good dual duty street/track car.

I missed that part, sorry about that. Still it shows how little advantage the ZL1 has over the SS (and M2) despite aero and a lot more power.

Clearly their track doesn't reward horsepower if aero and 190 bhp only pulls 0.4 seconds from the lap time (SS vs ZL1). There probably isn't much accelerating on that track so you are right that it is all down to the corners.

Absolutely! I have been interested in getting a 1LE for a long time, but as a Get Xer my wife has too many recollections of Fox bodies and IROC-Zs from her teenage years....makes it difficult to sell her on getting anything named Camaro. :P

Oh well, at least BMW has a real alternative.

It is hard for some f87 owner to accept the reality that their is m2 available which is better than their m2. So to keep themself happy they pretend to hate new g87.
