I think M3 G80 manual is good has its own characteristics it does take a bit of time to warm up the shifts gets mechanical.

It’s a charm to experience MTs and differing clutch engagements amongst different brands or even models.

I’ve been thinking about this since the MT article pointed it out as a weakness. My G80 was very thirsty (averaged 15.6 over 9k miles), and I drive a lot so I was filling up every few days although I keep the tank above 1/4 worst case. And that had about 2 more gallons than the M2. Shame bmw doesn’t offer a larger fuel tank option like Porsche does. Realistically you don’t want to go below 1-2 gallons left in the tank so you have 11.7 gallons to work with. If you’re driving hard that’s not going to get you very far. Also, not having a 7th gear is ridiculous - been asking the engineers every time they send us a feedback request.

Btw, are you the Bimmerpost Forums King or do you have a mouse in your pocket? Your use of the word “we” tends me to believe the latter. Good bye 🧌
The issue is that you've stated your opinion over and over, and are getting frustrated that you can't convince people to accept your perspective as objective truth. But that's how opinions work.

You think the G87 is ugly. We all hear you. And I think most of us would acknowledge that your opinion is part of the majority, so good for you! But, none of those who thinks the car looks awesome is wrong for feeling that way, and you need to accept that and get on with your life.

My 718 Boxster has six gears and it’s not really for highway speed cruising. With that said, I spend a lot of my time in 3rd or 4th. My 911 I’m normally in 4-5th when cruising around but having 7th gear on the highway makes it much more civil when you need it to be. I also only get about 25mpg in my 718 GTS but can get 29-30mpg in my 911. Seems counterintuitive but it’s true.

It’s nice that Porsche offers both the 6 and 7 MT based on what you want plus the ext tank option. Where I live it’s 60 miles to the base of the mountains, so in our MT F80 6th had the engine spinning at 3500 on the highway IIRC. So in the M2 you eat up 120 miles or about 5 gallons just getting to that point and back. And 6.7 gallons at 13-18 mpg of spirited mountain driving is 70-120 miles. It’s doable but if you go for a long drive have to plan a couple stops and make sure you’re not in the middle of nowhere with half a tank.

Manual is sick. Just got back from a ride.
Turn the traction down and you will see.. Be careful.

PS. I read Camisas report, and he is probably so far only guy who did not give the new M2 such glowing review and preferred previous gen car. Of course it was not posted on front page.

Yeah I think there was a misunderstanding from both parties in this case. Although I understand how your initial post could have been interpreted as antagonizing given that it marginalizes one opinion over the other based on popularity.

How quickly we forget. All these Porsches were generally disliked at the time of their release. Some still have a following today, and all have experienced highs and lows of desirability:

I personally love the slant nose, but it was hated by many:

And hooo boy, it would totally fail modern pedestrian safety requirements today. That design pretty much guarantees a jaywalker is going up and over. :O And drivers are going to get beheaded if they rear end a trailer.

It was a different time.

Yes, we get it, we are mostly semi-educated adults here. In 3 years, there will be a toilet that out performs today's toilets...
The new and improved thing is well... new and usually improved.

I like the M2C, CS and the G87... but come on man, be cool with the new vehicle coming out... its inevitable.

I have a mint condition RS4 at home, luckily they haven't made the successor to that car yet. Well not until the rs4 wagon comes over here. But, if they had, i might be a little defensive too... i totally get it.
Carry on and cheers!!

yes, it is a bit heavier than the old one, but the seat really holds you in tight.

I'm still trying to find one made out of carbon fiber. They perform better if you reduce the weight, you know.
