I wish they made them thinner, I loved the wheel in my Alfa Giulia, I don’t understand why bmw insist they are so thick.

I am one of the people who does like the girthy M steering wheel, and I don't have large hands. Every time I drive my wife's Mazda, the thin steering wheel feels like a toy.

I do like the wheels and don't think they are thick but I do have very large hands so...

Opinions: Does anyone think it's worth buying one full-out currently? I'm 24 and working as a Software Engineer. I saved up a good amount to purchase one and still live with my parents. I don't see myself moving out soon since my job is remote. It does take a decent hit to my savings but I won’t be struggling.

This is a very personal question. To give a fair response, you'd have to layer out your current assets/investments, debts, monthly spend, likely career path, plans to move out of your parents' place, etc.

I would 100% prioritize living on my own in a large, vibrant city over a car. Personally, living in a large highrise, owning a car is frowned upon as it means you likely don't live in a higher-priced, walkable area (were parking is $300/mo). I drive like 2K miles a year (to the burbs to visit friends/fam) and ride my bike more as my address has a 99 walk score and 100 transit score.

The general rule is your annual auto expense should not cost you more than 10% of your gross income. Note that this includes maintenance, gas, insurance, parking costs, etc. You should also put 20% down and pick a loan term of 4 or less years. Another adage points to the total purchase being no more than 35% of your gross salary (so for a fully loaded M240i you'd want to be at $150-$160K). Not everyone follows these guidelines, but it's a general rule to not be reckless.

There is no correct answer for this.

I bought out a used 2022 m240i because I did not want to pay interest. My liquid assets are in a money market so they bear interest but nothing crazy.

If you do decide to buy out your car, I would NOT recommend being upfront with that. Make the dealership think you will finance through them (on top of purchasing the car from them, they will also think they are make money/interest off the financed car). That will give you power to negotiate. Then once you buy the car and finance it, pay it off within a couple days.

That last bit of advice greatly depends on the finance deal.
If it is a pcp type, even at an interest rate of 8% you’d be more likely be better off retaining the finance.

As for buying a car, especially one like an M240i, regardless of whatever finance form that takes, I couldn’t ever imagine doing that over getting property of my own unless I had to care for my parents or similar.

I don't think the US has PCP financing like the UK does, unless it's this BMW Select program:

BMW Select

BMW Select is a retail installment contract with a final balloon payment. This product allows a customer to have lower monthly payments than with traditional retail installment financing, but still have the security of vehicle ownership. You make lower monthly payments during your selected term and then reach a decision point:

You can complete your vehicle purchase by making a final balloon payment.
You can apply to refinance the balloon payment amount.

Yes that the same.
Deposit, monthly payments usually over 2, 3 or 4 years and a fixed balloon at the end. Choice at the end to pay the balloon and keep the car, throw the keys back (always the worst option) or use any equity as a deposit to rinse and repeat.

It has various advantages of finance contributions at the start, being able to over pay more or even settle at any time or pay 50% of total due by finance and you can also walk away.

And as you mention above you can refinance the balloon in the same way usually until the car is 6 years old.

The think the main difference between UK and US is we don't have the option to just return the car lol. You're buying it regardless.

So close to pulling the trigger but I’m wondering if 2026 will bring the full LCI.

This is the LCI that was announced in a leak thread years ago and there's nothing there for 2026.
Moreover it says the production end is 2029.

Yes but there are some saying (dealers and online) that the full LCI will be next year and 2030 or EOP.

I’m patient, so. Either way is fine with me.

The general consensus is this is not the true LCI, but a cost cutting measure by sharing parts with the 3/4 series which got these minor upgrades previously.

I think the most beautiful is 898 M Frozen Gunmetal, which you can order additionally as a winter set.

Or you can get them just as the rims and get some summer/ performance tires

They look great
I am still waiting for my M240i which I ordered 6 months ago.
I could not decide between PB and BG but I chose BG.
My car has arrived at the port of Zeebrugge (Belgium) and I hope to receive it within 2 weeks.

I’m on the forum here 5-6 times a day and this is first I’ve heard there is a “general consensus” that the 2025 is not the actual LCI.

The man in the know said this isn't LCI. And said there might not even be an LCI for the G42.

How is the fitment?

Do you use spacers? If the fitment is the same as the ZTK package wheels, thats very nice.

You’ll need spacers for these wheels and size will depend on tyres.
I use them for my winter set up and have the BMW approved Continental tyres. 15mm rear and 12mm front spacer.
