It seems pretty obvious that the M2 will be auto and manual and the M2C will likely be auto only (like the M3/M4) or hp restricted to 473hp 406ft lb of torque.
Any M2 CS/CSL will be auto only (a rumor that has already been stated). There is 0 evidence they developed a new manual gearbox. |

Whatever is in that car as far as a gearbox will tell you what the score is for the M2 future models. |

I wasn't saying they'll make a new gearbox, but there's nothing stopping them from using the Homage gearbox, if in demand
I was making that statement to demonstrate the existence of a 6mt mated to the S58

Personally I would not get your hopes up. Set the expectation bar low.

I expect it's:
#1. M2 6MT and M2C zf8 released at same time. #2. M2C xDrive zf8 later release. This would align with what they did with the M3 and M4. That is, the xDrive arrived later. I hope #2 isn't M2C w/6MT… That would be annoying AF. Edit, I just read "2024". Thought it said 2023. That makes me less confident in what I said above.

Screw the xDrive and screw the ZF8, give me DCT any day.
That being said, it's probably going to be a hybrid.

Changeover could mean many things. At the most extreme, it could indicate the replacing of one model for another, or a more likely scenario could simply mean a changeover in available ordering options. IE, adding a comp package.
It makes no sense to exclude a consumer segment by cancelling a model that's already rolling off the assembly line, whether for those seeking a manual option, or simply affordability. Last edited by anitasanger; 10-07-2022 at 10:10 PM.. |

You are assuming there would be no manual option and there would be a large price increase. Last edited by M3WC; 10-07-2022 at 11:54 PM.. |

It's the word "changeover" that makes me suspicious.

It'd be funny if BMW said "You wanted traditional M2 values, so we gave you that", i.e. replacing the base with competition as has been the case for EVERY SINGLE ITERATION of the M2 so far, while apparently wiping out everything else the M2 stood for according to fellow forum members here.

Given that the previous "changeover" was due to emissions, this is a bit of a head scratcher.
