Silverstone or Yas Marina Blue? (F80)
Hey guys,
If there's already a similar thread I apologize, but I'm losing my mind. I just ordered my M3 a few weeks ago in Yas Marina Blue, but one of the members just posted photos of his brand new Silverstone M3 - and damn they were great photos. So now my mind is wandering. I had a silver E46 back in the day. So, do I leave my order the way it is or go Silverstone? A little background below to help with opinions. I live in CT and options are as follows: -Black Merino Leather -Manual Transmission -Carbon Fiber Interior (and roof) -Black 19 Inch Wheels -Executive Package -Adaptive M Suspension -HK Sound -Lighting Package Again, I apologize if this thread already exists. Thank you for your insight as well! It will help me with my soon to be F80. |

I didn't like YMB, but it really has grown on me after I saw it a few times in person. I ordered Silverstone myself and just took delivery today. In case you haven't seen the pictures I just posted, they are here:

I really like YMB, AY and SO but what I'm asking myself on those colors: will I be liking them in 1 year time, still? or will they bore out on me after a couple of months? I also love everything dark, had a carbon black E46 M3 back in the days. that means cleaning every week, so I went to more silver'ish colors. had Moonstone on a E92 335 and really loved it. on the M4, I initially wanted to go for Silverstone, then they also offered Moonstone - that's what I've ordered now.
I'd go for silverstone if I were you. but I'm not you and don't know about your taste and long-term "view" on this. consider that you have to LOVE the color for as long as you keep the car, and that includes all the comments and remarks from friends and people on the street. some people care more, some care less about this - but you will hear them. excentric colors, in my experience, lead to more negative comments. I like moonstone because for most people, it is "silver. or grey? what color is that? moonstone? never heard. looks nice." on parking tickets, they state it as silver |

I had SSII/fox red before on my e90 and I'm going for YMB/black on my f80. Personally I need something different, I've owned only black and silver cars my entire life.
I will however say SSII is an amazing color. It has a blue hue in certain lighting that is hard to see in pics. Its not your regular silver. Its something special.

They are both good colors. I think it depends if you are the kind of person that wants to stand out or not.
Personally I ordered AW, but silverstone and YMB were the other two colors I considered (well, and MW, but that was more of a separate 'if I go white, which white' thought process). Initially I was leaning towards YMB, but two things swayed me. One, I'm not the kind of person who likes to stand out. And two, I was afraid it would be a color I'd eventually get tired of, and I generally keep my cars 7-8 years. For me, between the two, I'd take Silverstone. Silverstone is a nice classy silver, but at the same time it's just different enough from other silvers to avoid being just another silver car, plus is M specific. im thinking YMB will be a color sought after years after the F8X body style is done, sorta like the E46 M3 in LSB...a color ahead of its time.
however, SSII is timeless with its blueish flakes amd more appealing than regular silver. |

SS is my vote. Still not sure to go SS or MW. Really like the blue hue in certain lighting of the SS. Heck, I may just breakdown and order tanzanite blue individual.

I really like YMB, But I would take SS II over it. the YMB is a really, really cool color, but theres something about it that says it looks amazing.... On someone else's car.
