I liked the video a lot. Been waiting for a quasi user review professionally done.
Having only driven 400 miles on my M4 and waiting for delivery next week I am still biased in thinking that the e46 was a better handler on turining...but this is mainly perception mostly due to being able to see the road so much more easily over the hood of the car. |

This video is pretty dumb. There is a lot of "the spirit of M" term being thrown around with no real understanding it. Frankly, it's like operating a new tank on the streets and claiming that you are happy with this new war machine. If you blind folded these guys and stuck them into a C63 AMG they would have said the exact same things.
Yes the F80 is an evolution as a street machine but none of these guys are qualified to claim that it's an evolution of the "spirit of M". The fact that is it so street friendly is the 1st indication that its M spirit has been lost a bit. Now before you get too excited let me just say that it is very likely that I will replace my ZHP with an F80 so this isn't just a plain on blasphemy. But you will never get me to relinquish my E30 M3... talk about an M spirit.. those that never owned one (or very few other older M models) will never understand what that term means. Now.. put on your seat warmers.. adjust your bolsters... set your destination in the nav... and go enjoy your m spirit.

I just got rid of my 2006 E46 M3. I love my M4, but I had that E46 for 8 years and I miss it!!

Do you miss your E46 and regret selling it because it was better than your M4? Or do you miss your E46 and wished you could have kept it and gotten your M4 as well? |

The E46 was not better than the M4. The M4 is better in every aspect, but the E46 was like an old shoe. It just fit and was comfortable. It also was a Dinan M3 so had some growl to it. I wish I could have kept it, but I just didn't need 3 cars and I thought it would be better for it to go to someone who would drive it and enjoy it like I did. I have no regrets in getting the M4.
