Taking my car to Scotland
I'm heading back up to Glasgow tomorrow in my M3, so will finally get a chance to use the car properly. Having it in London is not ideal, as there are so many speed cameras, and not to many twisty, fun roads, so I'm really looking forward to putting it through its paces over the next few weeks. I'll try to get some decent video. May even take a trip through Glencoe and get some amazing scenery too...
I'll look forward to sharing my experiences over the next few weeks! |

Don't forget to allow yourself a couple of hours' detour in the Peak District on the way up... great stuff...

I'm going to have two little passengers, so it will have to be a sensible trip, although I may take a blast across the A66. I would love to explore the area sometime. I had to drop a friend off down there a few years back, so got to enjoy some of the roads in my 911, with the sun shining and the roof down. It was a great drive...

That's gonna be one hell of a drive. Last Christmas I drove my Zed up to Forfar and I fucking loved it. I hope the weather is with you. |

I drove all the way from London to Edinburgh to the Outer Hebrides in 2 days. Man that was an awesome drive. Scotland (and Wales) have some great driving routes.
Unfortunately at the time i wasnt driving a sports car. |

Just arrived! The road I wanted to take was closed, so I ended up detouring along some wicked country roads in Northern England. Damn, that car's good at overtaking
I averaged 77mph, which sounds low, but the first few hours were in traffic at 50-70, then I sat at 80-100 most of the way. Fuel consumption was around 27mpg during the first part of the journey, which I was pretty pleased with. I reset the journey computer when the road cleared and averaged 19 from then. Overall I ended up with 20.9mpg average. Not a bad figure... One thing I did notice when I arrived in Glasgow was that I still felt completely comfortable in the seat. I really can't see why people complain about it. The only pain I felt was in my wrists, from hanging onto the thick steering wheel. They must have hands like shovels in the BMW factory! |
