Yep, bluetooth sensor. There are a few hidden things like that. The keyfob sensor is also just under the right side of your steering wheel, which is why it says "Keyfob not detected" or whatever when you start to move away towards the left of your drive seat with the key in your pocket.

Is it really that sensitive, I often have my keyfob in a coat pocket either on the back seat with a load of other keys and stuff or even in the boot with no issues. It seems to be okay so long as the key is inside the vehicle but gets very upset if it is left running and you take it out of the vehicle, usually it just turns itself off if I do that.

Yes, it is that sensitive. It's weird because like you said, it seems to have a set area where that sensor region scans, so I guess the backseat is fine if it's within that area. However, once you move it far enough away out the door or if you're just at the door edge on the driver side, the alert will come up. I've tested it many times while coding because sometimes I'm outside of my car to test a code.

I thought it was the passenger seat eject button.... for the times when the old missus goes on one of her "watch that car ahead, can't you drive a little bit slower, keep to your lane!" modes.... Bitterly disappointed it ain't for that purpose....

Come on now, be nice to our women, just let them off our car would be good enough. You know how an ejecting seat will damage the interior and the surrounding.

@NPickles Mine has a different 'sensitivity' to yours. Have tried leaving keys in my gym bag in the boot and starting the car but it won't but once started can leave the car running and get out, walk to the garage and it doesn't stop. Strange

Gentlemen, I don't think you're looking at it from a value-add perspective. Who needs Driver Assistance, Driver Assistance Plus or ACC Stop&Go when the women in your lives do all of that for you? Think of the money that they free up for M packages and DHP!

Same here which is why when in the mornings I leave it running to defrost and take the keys in the house wonder if it will disappear, how far can you drive from the keys do you think?

According to the manual, it's the interior temperature sensor.

Puzzled me too.

its the bluetooth sensor.
Bluetooth doesn't require a sensor- just an antenna (and it's likely buried in the dash or headliner). I think it's an IR temp sensor.

Isn't it under the rear view mirror?

You might be right.
