M4 vs 911
Saw a video of a M4 against the 911 on a track. M4 had more power but lost by 1.4 seconds to the 911. The comment that the tires did transmit all the power to the track due to overheating.
Would wider rear performance tires give the M4 the edge over the 911? |

My view, however, is the only meaningful comparison is absolutely stock to stock. Otherwise, then the Porsche guy will say they will upgrade tires and be faster... and so on and so on...

gthal, you are right, the Stock is stock, and the comparison should be non modified even with tires. However track day is fair game.

While Michelin PSS are great summer and street tires, they tend to overheat and chunk while pushed to the limit. Basically, they are not ideal for either autoX or track driving. The bigger challenge is weight. 991 Carrera tips the scales 3,042 lbs, which is more than 500 lighter than M3. That is a gigantic weight penalty to drag around the track. a
