E9X Brembo GT Kit Compatibility
Am just curious what parts of the E9X's are transferrable to the F8X's.
- Brembo GT Kit? - Wheels? IE: 18X9.5/10.5 et low 20's Thanks in advance! Might be spending more time over this side of the forum in the near future |

floating vs non floating right?
"What is different about the new BMW M3 and BMW M4 is that fixed-calliper brakes are now fitted to the front and rear axles, with four pistons at the front and two at the rear. The predecessor had heavy single-piston sliding callipers." There are really very few actual brembo calipers really just the gt and gtr line unless you add p4's, the kit must be mostly a fitment issue. |

The main compatibility issues lie in the bell design. BMW changed the suspension upright between the E9x and F8x cars, and also changed the overall wheel and suspension packaging. In fact, the newer car has slightly less axial clearance in the rear due to a different offset of the brake bell.
The hub center is different from car to car, and so the Brembo brake disc bells and caliper brackets are different between the E9x and F8x cars. The F8x does use a fixed brake caliper, as opposed to the old E9x floating calipers- a substantial improvement in rigidity and pedal feel. Here's a photo of one of our Brembo kits, for reference:

One of the key issues is the piston sizing. The sizing is different from E9x to F8x. The different piston sizing leads to different hydraulic pressures, and will ultimately result in incorrect brake bias. This isn't something that can be cured easily (short of using an in-cabin bias adjuster), and so for me performing a retrofit like this would not be a useful undertaking.

There is a 380mm and 405mm front disc diameter. The Type III disc is available, with it's exciting slot pattern.
