X5M Calliper on M3/4...?

Obviously the OEM standard brake setup for the F8x platform is. Steel rotor 380f and 360r.

Thats all well. But the Callipers are 4 pot front and 2 pot rear.

Whereas the CCB upgrade is 6 pot front and 4 pot rear.

That being said could you swap the front 4 pot steel Calliper be moved to the rear and the X5M front 6 pot steel calliper be used on the front of the F8x?

In theory this gives the same piston setup as the CCB but not being CC...

Are the brackets the same? Weight? Rotors don't need up sizing?

Thoughts?

Why not use the CCB calipers and upsize your rotors?

Why would you want to do this ?

The base iron rotor setup on the F8X seems plenty sufficient to me.

agreed, the calipers seem up to the job. the pads are certainly not but let me get back to you after this weekend about that.

tbh I wasn't aware the CCB could be used.... Am I right in thinking the calliper doesn't dictate the CCB factor? Its the rotor?

I imagine (need to check) that the Calliper is very expensive just because its classed as CCB.

But I'm not looking to upgrade rotor size.

Agreed, I want a larger calliper for asthetics if not anything else and to be "different".

Let us know Alex. I think it would look great 6 on the front 4 on the rear non CCB.

Carbon-Ceramic refers to the rotor, not much to do with caliper; except that the caliper has to be designed differently for sustaining operations at higher peak temps.

Calipers are built for specific size rotors, since the CCB rotors are larger in diameter, you would have to use 400 mm front and 380 mm rear rotors. The benefit maybe with the BMW CCB calipers that you may keep the warranty on them

If it is for looks, I'd recommend not to waste money of course, but that's an individual choice.

And besides, have you seen the size of the calipers on X5/6M? They're the same as a size 18 men's boot. Way overkill.
