Are the revs limited when the engine is cold?
Sorry, I hope this is not a stupid question, as I could try it out on my car in the morning but I thought I'd ask it anyway as I think I remember seeing a youtube video where someone tried to rev his car just after start and it was somehow limited to 3000 or 4000 for a few seconds...?

The redline is lowered based on engine temperature, yes.

I don't think it ever goes that low. The lowest I've seen it was 5500. It also takes a lot more than few seconds go clear.

ok thanks. I see. Then the 3000 was something else. I think it was the rev when doing the launch control, which is something completely different. ok, but understood, cheers!

Yes, cold start is limited to just a little above 3k rpm. It takes a little less than 2 mins to clear. I know because I rev the crap out of Mine in the garage. I have the flaps open, man it sounds toxic. Haha

Looks like there's another limit that isn't shown on the instruments panel. I didn't notice that. I was referring to the redline moving gradually as the engine gets warmer, which you can see around the rpm gauge.
