Lime Rock Park Edition
As a current E46 owner and in the market for a E92 Coupe. i have noticed many of the Lime Rock Park edition cars on the used market. I would think that a car with production numbers that low would be purchased and kept as a collectors item. I am looking for feedback from the forum members as to why the large amount of these cars in the used car market nationwide. Is there something specific to that car with the suspension or performance that makes the owner choose to get rid of the car rather then keep it for the long term.
Any Feedback would be greatly appreciated and will assist in my selection process. thank you |

The limerock is basically just the fire orange color with all the carbon Bmw bits plus the m performance exhaust. Only unique thing about the limerock is the color and the badges.

Hi. I don't know the us market but first ones bought new in late 2012, so probably one owner cars. Maybe now coming to 2 year ownership and owner feeling twitchy because they feel they want to jump into a new m4 instead? Or maybe because they feel they haven't lost enough coin in first two years on one new car they want to do it again on another? My current car had two previous owners in two years and stoll had less than 5k on the clock -Is still mint (for me) 9 months later and when sold the specialist I bought from said people that buy these cars can sometimes just afford to keep chopping and changing.

Could be many reasons to see them for sale but I don't see too many. When I do, they're asking something ridiculous like $70k so no one is buying. LRP is my favorite e92 but for $70k? Hell no.

This is correct ^^^. And after you get over the novelty of having a limited car, it sinks in that your limited car is bright orange and that some other E92 M3s that went through BMW Individual have the same color. I imagine these two moments of clarity contributed to at least some of preowned supply increase.

Probably the color more than anything. Tired of people asking "so what made you choose THAT color?", and having to explain LRP to them all the time.

I agree with this comment. OP, owners of Lime Rock Edition cars are simply looking to flip to other "collectors". As long as there are buyers out there that value the "collectible" value of the color and badge combo, they will continue to pay the high price for the cars. Is the car worth the premium over a comparable M3 ZCP? Only you can be the judge of that, I for one will NEVER be in the market for one, unless it's almost at the same price level as any standard M3 ZCP. If you're valuing it properly, taking out the "collector value" out of it, simply add the initial cost of the paint ($5500) and CF interior pieces ($3,000?) and depreciate it at the same rate as a standard M3 ZCP that has comparable mileage and condition. The difference in price is the "collector premium" the seller wants, it's up to you to to see if you want to pay that premium. I myself only value this premium at most at $1k (again this is how much this is worth to me) All in all, I don't think the LRE will hold significant value 5 years and 10 years down the line simply b/c BMW diluted the market with tons and tons of special edition cars with special paint. Just look at all those technoviolet E36 M3s out there. When that came out, it was a hot color, but today, the premium isn't more than a few thousand.

I saw a 2013 E92 individual FO paint low miles listed last week for mid 50s. I would not spend 70k on a E92M regardless of the edition.

I wouldn't call a Lime Rock Edition a Collectors car.
GTS E92 M3 on the other hand is a different story. I would say it's only a collectors "Car" if you keep it 40 years with under 10k miles mint condition with a limited factor. But who's collecting when we have these beauties to enjoy now (E9x's). Life is way to short and this is coming from a 19yr old. |

I like the Lime Rock Edition, I could just never own an orange car and drive it daily like I do my M3

I toy with the idea of wrapping mine FO every so often. Space Gray is good but at times, it can be plain. Orrrr maybe that's because I came from a Silver Gray e46 m3. It could be that.
For color-people, it's all about LSB, FO, and IB (1, not 2). As for paying 70k for a "limited" car ... see the above. Buy the CF parts, get an Akra, and wrap the car for maximum bang for your buck. If you don't have a GTS, you just have another M3. |
