Very Disappointing...

So, the Bluetooth streaming (phone and vehicle) to play music or any other program comes with $15K-$25K Dodge, Kia, Ford, Chevy which I've driven...and my $85,000 X5 can't play it since I didn't order a $800 "Connected Drive" option???!!!!!
So now I have to wire the phone to the car???? Are you f'n kidding me??!!!

Sounds like they have to go back to "what do we actually sell?" class.

This is the Features & Specs page for the X5 35i

http://www.bmwusa.com/Standard/Conte...and_Specs.aspx

And this is under Instrumentation and controls:

all I know, is that the bluetooth works for phone calls but it doesn't pair for music...have shown it to a couple of dealers, they say Connected Drive!
What, Where, Who, How.... they received the dealership certifications god knows!!!
Right now, I have a car that I can't connect my phone to to play music...

I agree with others, this should work via standard bluetooth connectivity. I don't recall if it is in my F30 or the F15, and it may be neither now that both have had software updates, but at one point I remember in one of them, but not both, having to start the music app on my iPhone before I could control the music via iDrive over bluetooth. Pretty sure I no longer have to do that in either car with the latest software (as of a couple months ago). Might be worth a try if you haven't already tried it, just start the music on the phone directly first, then go to the phone through bluetooth connections in media. If that helps, go get a software update and I'm pretty sure you'll no longer need to do that.

Now that I think of it, the iPhone 6 / iOS 8 could be another reason I used to have to do that but no longer do… I'll try to remember to play around with both cars and both phones (5s and 6) later.

Once you get it fixed just wait till you open the drivers window and can't hear your tunes due to the irritating whistling sound that comes from the drivers side outside mirror

The issue with my car is that it does not recognize the Melody note...The way I understood it, you get two icons: one is the "Bluetooth" icon which is for voice and the other is a "melody note"...mine doesn't bring that...so essentially phone is not connected...mine is an iPhone5...

Think you need to code enhanced Bluetooth for bt audio streaming, if you didn't order it. I coded mine and now have phone office features, 2 phones can connect at once, and streaming audio. I have an iPhone 6 plus, and early UK 2014 f15.

Go into Bluetooth devices, select your phone then- Hit the option button and select "Audio". Then it will stream. Once you plug in the cable it disables BT Streaming and you have to go back into settings and re assign it.

f15 x5 streams music via Bluetooth without enhanced options, iPhone and Android. Sometimes you need to go to external devices and then click music in options. Android loses the music part nowand then, iPhone works perfectly...

Just out in OZ for a holiday - apart from the fact you can't go 10kmh over the highway limit without being kicked in jail - I would love to have my X5 to drive out there!

To the OP - I had issues with my Bluetooth streaming as well - you should be able to do it but the melody note keeps dropping all the time for me - in the end I just plugged it in... I know I should go to the dealer but couldn't be bothered!

When you stream via Bluetooth don't use the usb cable otherwise it will drop.

Plus, try to go to audio/option/Bluetooth and check if the streaming audio option is flagged.

Same problem - I just assumed you had to plug in via USB (which does seem a bit strange on a car like this). Will have a play with the bluetooth/audio settings.

Can anyone confirm that Spotify will work via bluetooth?

Rob.

I use my Samsung Galaxy S5 Bluetooth paired up and select multimedia and I stream on my Pandora without any problems. When phone rings, streaming will pause while I answer the call.
