Anyone care to speculate why BMW stick with those old status lights up top instead of going dot matrix LCD entirely

Oh yes ! But when all the lights come on it's more like being in a space ship (specially because the car was in the garage and the garage lights went off so it was dark in the car...)

Idiot proof so when the computer goes down, you always have the lights. I wonder if they are parallel systems.
