Loud trunk noise when opening??

Is it normal when the rear hatch opens it sounds like a rather loud POP sound? This is one of the annoying things about this X5. I noticed it right away during delivery and the bmw staff told me it was normal for it to be this loud. I got soft close doors so I don't to wake up my kid everytime someone gets in and out of the car but whenever we go to the trunk to get something the loud pop sound wakes up my kid 50% of the time

Sound is there every time mine is opened as well. I never thought it was loud enough to wake kids, I guess you can try prepping by rolling down windows and turning on the radio so the pop is not sudden and hopefully this won't startle the little one. Good luck.
