Comfort steering feels better
I highly recommend you try Comfort steering if you haven't. I was driving with Sport for months after getting the car. One day, after a heavy gym session the steering felt a bit heavy so I tried Comfort. I tried it few more times, until I realised I like it better. It feels so smooth and precise.
Jeremy Clarkson complained about steering when reviewing it, and said switching to Comfort solves the problem. I didn't think much of it though, I thought he's just a pussy. I remember some BMW engineer on YT talking about it as well, saying that lot of their pro drivers like Comfort steering. It's subjective so you might not like it, but I recommend you at least try it out. Don't assume that Sport=better |

I have it set in both M1, and M2 modes. Best steering feel of all of the settings, IMHO.

Looking to start some trouble, eih?
I prefer sport plus steering. It's just my nature. I'm badass like that! Maybe you should work out with real weights at the gym. And if you prefer comfort steering just go buy a Honda Accord! Let's get this thread going guys! |

I use comfort mode all the time now, even at autocross, it seems faster to me. But then I'm an old fart, probably just don't have the muscle to turn the sport plus that fast.

For some reason I find myself more apt to drift off center when in comfort, as the wheel seems to have more play in that mode. Sport+ tightens up the play and I tend to keep from swaying. Might be something I need to get use to as I've always kept her in sport+, "real he-man stuff" as once reported.

Sport+ is nice for the highway, Comfort is nice for parking, but Sport is Goldilocks' favorite for spirited driving.

he did also comment on how he's kind of a wimp hehe.. i used sport+ everything at the track and it seemed fine to me... next time out i might play with the settings a bit but it seemed spot on to me. i guess that's why they give us options though

I'm curious to hear more specifically on this fake feeling and why it's felt like such. I had a 2006 Z4M prior to the F80, and from what I can tell, the Z4M's steering was just more stiff, so not sure how the F80 which feel less stiff is overly stiff |

The more I drive this car, the more I think BMW nailed the default settings. Efficient-Sport-Sport. These in my mind, are the perfect settings for backing out of a parking spot. I can tell they've thought about this a lot!!! Coming from an f30, I feel it would be a such a copout to EVER use comfort steering. For all the whiny "steering is too damn light" posts attributed to my username, I think it would only be fair to have f30post members line up to pelt me with stones, in public, if word ever got out that Falafel Combo drives his M3 in Comfort steering. No. Not this guy. I will not let my f30post peeps down! For me it's either (M1) Efficient-Comfort-Sport, AKA, leaving the gym with sore arms mode. (M2) Sport-Sport-Sport+, AKA, manly testosterone raging lumberjack racecar driver mode! |
