Finally going to replace my beloved '11 E90 M3
After about 5 years of ownership of my beloved '11 E90 6 spd., I am going to take the plunge on the new Cayman GT4. There hasn't been any car that has piqued my interest enough to ever think about getting rid of the M3. I think that time has finally come. A dealership in Maryland informed me today that I will be getting an allocation for the GT4. I was #2 on their list. I am quite excited for this car. However, it is bittersweet excitement as I absolutely love my m3. Sadly, I will have to sell the M3 to help fund the new purchase. I am curious if anyone else would take the similar plunge. I know there is definitely a price difference. I paid roughly $62k for my E90 in July 2010. The way I have the GT4 spec'd would put it around $93k. Not a small difference by any means. Curious to hear everybody's thoughts.

For less money you can have a hand built exotic and it would stomp that GT4 in any catagory.
For not much more you can have a factory built 1 of 1. Sound interesting? HINT: 640hp, 600lb-ft Naturally aspirated |

I'm on the list, but not a local dealer and I'm not so high on the list. I think I'm number 4.
I said that I wanted paint to sample or I might not want the order, so hopefully my allocation turns into a 2016 build with PTS. With that said, unlike you and your 5 years with the E90, I'm still getting to know my E92 at just under 2 years of ownership. Decisions decisions

Previously done. people said they dearly miss some unique aspects of their m3 after they got a porsche. But a porsche is the only valid excuse for selling the E9x M3 (if you have the $) IMO anything else is not going to fill the shoes of the m3 as a well rounded, unique and special enthusiast car.
I hope you're not referring to the gt350, that engine layout has been avoided by all manufacturer due to highly problematic vibrations. |

Wish I was lucky as you. Tried to get on the list for the GT4 but would have been no 7 for my local dealer that is probably only getting 2.
Unless your M3 was a stripper I would not just get the minimum options especially if you are used to amenities in the M3. From experience a lot of the items standard in most luxury cars are options in a Porsche. 93k optioned GT4 doesn't. It sound like many options. Think I had optioned one up close to 112K before I found out how far down the wait list I would be and gave up. One option you must get but is expensive are the one piece bucket seats. They are the reason you buy the GT cars and can only get those seats in the GT3 or spyder. Best of luck on the trade up! I would not hesitate one bit with your choice.

Another hint. Base MSRP is ~$85,000 NEW (no optional engines). And as stated before has a factory program for 1 of 1 cars with 8,000 color choices. They build less per year than the Lamborgini Gallardo while they were in production. Hand stitched interiors, Leather CF and Alcantara. They also use the same seat manufacture as Ferrari...Sabelt. He's talking about a Dodge viper. I'd rather have a GT4 over a viper any day of the week as well.

If I had the means, I definitely would have gone for it. Considering the demand, it's no small feat that you got an allocation, either. The GT4 is going to be one of those cars that doesn't depreciate at all, and may even appreciate in value due to low production numbers. Please come back and write us up a review/comparison once you get it! |

BINGO!
Hands down the best weekend/exotic/supercar car for the money. Drivesrt.com and build your own. Watch the vids, most people have no clue how good the viper is. Last edited by Disturbed; 05-05-2015 at 09:23 AM.. |

Number 4 on the list certainly does not mean you will get one - besides heard rumors that there may be a GT4 RS offering - but just rumors at this point - on the other hand the dealer would not confirm or deny. Drove a 911S this weekend with the rev matching manual - all I can say is WOW. If you cannot get the GT4, you may want to test the 991 variant.
