Estimate for sanding and respraying front bumper in Houston
Heys guys - I scraped the lower left end of my front bumper on a tall curb and ended up taking off the paint in a 2 inch by 5 inch section. Given that the paint was taken off and a layer of black "stuff" was deposited, I'll have to have that part sanded down and the entire bumper resprayed.
I got a quote from a highly recommended shop here in Houston and was quoted ~$900 for taking off the front bumper, sanding the scraped part, and respraying the whole bumper. I'm going to get it done (here or maybe a different shop) but I wanted to see what people thought about the quote. Is $900 for this reasonable or am I getting pulled here? Thanks in advance for the thoughts. |

//M tax. No way it should cost more in Houston than LA/OC- you can get it for around $300 here,

Let me get this straight... You are swapping out parts designed by some of the top engineers in the world because some guys sponsored by a company told you it's "better??" But when you ask the same guy about tracking, "oh no, I have a kid now" or "I just detailed my car." or "i just got new tires."

Thanks for the input guys, really appreciate it. Another related question - do most places mix their own paint? Or can you buy the exact paint from BMW?

They mix and they should blend with the existing panels anyway. Jerez mixed at one shop is never a perfect match unless they can blend it with the actual car.

I thought so. My car is Mineral White so I was a little worried about matching. But the shop is reputable so probably the best I can do

I actually had the dealer in the Woodlands re-paint my rear bumper...they had an external shop do it for around $300. They did a fantastic job. Call Honza in the service department and tell him Michael with the space grey M3 recommended it.
