M3 E90 rear legroom

Does anybody know how the E90 M3 rear legroom compares to the regular E90? The UK E90 M3 brochure technical drawings don't add up. The 3 sections of the car measure 805mm, 2761mm and 1049mm on the UK brochure but the overall length of the car is given as 4580mm. (At least) One of these figures has to be wrong. The E90 (non M3) stats are given as 755, 2760 and 1005 for a total of 4520mm. Does anybody in the US have different measurements for the E90 M3? It may sound like I am splitting hairs here, but I have an order down for the E90 M3 and I don't want to find out that the rear leg room is a few inches less than a regular E90 as I am 6ft5 and the E90 is about as small as I can comfortably go.

The total dimension has been corrected in the following drawing from the Aftersales Training document. All the hard points are the same between the two cars. I doubt that interior room varies more than a few mm.

There's no reason to believe that the interior of the regular e90 and the e90 m3 would differ by much at all. Sooo, I've actually found the rear seat of the e90 to be quite small on legroom, but who cares if you're the driver?

I care... I generally don't take passengers that I don't like so why would I want to make them uncomfortable! If I didn't want friends or family in my car I would get the M3 coupe! There is indeed a reason to believe that the interior legroom will be different. That reason is that all the length dimensions are all different on the M3 E90 vs 335i E90. Either the M3 E90 will have to be about 4 inches longer than the 335i E90 or rear leg room is going to suffer. If someone has an E90 M3 technical spec that adds up I would appreciate them posting it here to clarify the measurements.

Can't help you with the tech specs, but consider that the cars are indeed using the same body shell. There's no way the passenger cabin is any larger or smaller on the M3. Therefore, overall interior room will be the same. Now, sure, are tiny variances in front/rear seat room due to small differences between the front seats themselves. However, it will most likely be negligible.

I have an E90 335i and have sat in an E90 M3, both front an rear. I didn't have a tape measure, but I can tell you that the two are not noticeably different in size as far as I my senses could tell me. The rear seat area is basically identical, and the front seat area only differs in the fact that the M3 has different front seats and different buttons/leather/steering wheel/etc.

Go to a dealership, and check out an E90 335i. If it is sufficient for your needs then almost certainly so will be an E90 M3. Also, where passenger comfort is concerned consider that an M3 with EDC will be the more comfortable of the two as far as ride quality.

I've got a solution: save your money a little longer and buck up for the M5 or B7, they got plenty of legroom

Greg

Thanks for the US technical document with the specs. Effectively this document says that the E90 M3 is equivalent in length to an E90 335i with an E92 front, i.e. the interior dimensions of the E90 M3 will be the same as a 335i with M3 front seats. This settles my mind that the M3 E90 will be OK for me in terms of rear leg room. So in terms of overall length the M3 E92 > M3 E90 > E90 335i, now I know!

If I wanted an M5 or B7 I would buy one. The cost difference between an E90 M3 with DCT, EDC, PDC, 19s and extended leather and an M5 (all those options are standard on an M5 in the UK) is small, i.e £57K vs £62K. The M5 and B7 are too big for me … cars, roads and parking spaces are on average much smaller in the UK than in the US. Plus, I don’t like the styling on either of those cars.

Mkoesel

Thanks for the advice. I have driven the E90 335i Auto and E92 M3 manual at my local dealer but I have only seen photos of the E90 M3 so far. I hired an E90 (320i) on my last vacation with the whole family and the leg room was just enough for my 2 kids… but the performance was nowhere near good enough for me.

If anyone has seen the legroom difference between an Audi A4 and an RS4 (behind the bucket seats) they will know that my original question had real merit. Thanks to all who took time to answer my question.

If space really is a problem then what about a nearly new M5 for about 50K?
