S2000 vs Z4M + M4

Crazy Highway speeds in Germany... M4 no where to be seen. S2000 drivers are crazy. Check out the girl that's playing candy crush during the race.

M4 didn't really get involved much. Showing this to a guy at work that thinks the S2000 is some sort of miracle vehicle. lol

for a vehicle created in the late 90's its actually a very potent track car and "fun" as a daily driver

Very true..I had AP1 from 2003-2005. It was fun but I won't take it on a long road trip. The longest I took my AP1 was from LA to Buttonwillow for a track day. The evening trip home after a long track day seemed to last forever.

On the autobahn, I rather be in a little bigger car. Last week I did a trip down from Berlin to Wittenberg on A9 in M550d. It was somewhat sunny Wednesday after the rain. I got up to 240 before my wife told me to slow down. Even at 220-240 speed, it was smoother than S2000 at 85mph (140km/h) in LA freeway.

I've owned an S2000 for 6 years (it's a 2006 which has increased in value nicely since I bought it!). It's an awesome car but over 110 mph it doesn't give you a great feeling or much confidence. This guy is nuts...

I love the car because you have to drive it like you stole it and at low speeds you can still have a blast. I'll never sell it! I do want a M coupe though- love the styling

Not that I disagree with you completely, I'm sure it has some "pluses", having to rev the snot out of something to get moving with only slightly more torque than my motorcycle... Meh. I'd take the M coupe instead if I wanted a two seater.

I had a 2003 S2000 (known as an AP1, had the 9k redline) for about four years... it was, and still is, the greatest car I've ever owned. I eventually relapsed and bought a 2007 AP2 (8200 redline i think), which was also awesome. Among others, I've had an Evo X, Z4M, 535i MSport, and now my M4... and still think that the S2000 is unbeatable. It has no frills, enough power to go fast but not enough to be unusable on the street, and zero electronics to interfere with the experience.

It's not a measurable thing either. Anyone that hasn't spent time in one will just point at lap times or 0-60, which obviously it isn't the best at. But those same people probably haven't ever autocrossed in a Miata, and wouldn't understand why the miata is one of the best autocross cars ever made. The S2000 is basically a miata on steroids. Fun, cheap and beautiful.

They added traction control in 06. And they have electric power steering.

I had an 05 and once the novelty of vtec just kicked in yo wore off, I didn't really enjoy the car. The transmission was glorious but everything else was just meh for me. Obviously there are others with love affairs.

^^^^ "VTEC just kicked in yo"

Reminds me of my younger years listening to the VTEC crowd (I was team Silvia).

When I bought my Viper last month I was convinced I would sell my 2005 S2000 (for a small profit after owning it for 1.5 years). The Viper is an amazing car, but the S2000 is like nothing you can buy anymore. Mine has 15k miles and is practically a new car, and I am still pretty sure the Viper will leave before the S2000. The Viper is loaded with all sorts of distractions (which is scary in a 640hp car), whereas the S2000 is just you, a great motor, and the road.
