Carly, anyone else used it (Formerly BMWhat)
I saw mention of this for battery coding in a different post, and looked into it. It's an iPhone app (and Android too, I think) along with an adapter that plugs into the OBD II port. You sync them up and get to work. It resets the maintenance intervals and does some basic coding as well (I *removed* my gong altogether, allowed my windows to be rolled up and down for up to a minute including after the key was out and a door had been opened, little things like that). It hasn't been all-inclusive, I was hoping to remove the little thing you must "accept" when the idrive turns on, an it looks like my particular case I actually can't register a new battery (they say they are working on that and almost finished). Overall I'm pretty happy.
Wondered if anyone else was using it, what you thought, if you've discovered any tricks? |

I use it and for the cost I find it covers most of my Coding needs. Yes like you said there are a few things that I would like to do on top of it but overall im happy with it.

The iphone version just updated earlier this week, mentioned something about battery coding. I haven't had a chance to check it out yet. Would be great if it works for that too!

Right. I guess I meant that up to now it wasn't available. They indicated they were working on it, and almost finished, but not quite yet. That was ~ couple weeks ago. The app update description mentioned it and may have something now.

Not sure how it works. I don't really need it right now but will probably purchase it anyhow for future use and simply to see what it does. |

Yep, that's the one I got - the Gen II for iphone (for BMW of course). From Amazon. They aren't always in stock it seems but at the moment they are.
No luck for me last night trying the battery coding. Maybe next Rev. |

don't wanna jack the thread but..
I have had decent success except I don't really know if it worked or not until I try the function.
Also, I once had my vert coded to open top with remote. After my dealer updated DME, it's gone. I'd like to add this function back. Anyone know if anyone else has done this with Carly? I can't find the function. thanks

I don't remember that one being in there. I am able to open / close my windows and sunroof with the remote, but I don't recall seeing anything about the convertible top. However, since I don't actually have a convertible, maybe it's not going to show up for me to start with?
They seem to be pretty good at responding to emails, you might try contacting them directly. |

If your car has comfort access you can program it with Carly. This does include being able to operate the top with the key fob. The 08 does not have it. You can buy the aftermarket conversion box to gain comfort access functions. There are threads on this board about how to install it. With this you don't need Carley to program it.

If it matters at all, I don't have comfort access but I was able to do the windows up / down w/ the remote, it was an option within the coding. I will admit that I didn't even know about it so there's a chance it was actually already there.

It's super cheap ($13) but only does about 3/4 of the coding options. Don't get the Bluetooth version if you want to run it with an Apple device. Apple Bluetooth is wonky and I had to switch to the wifi adapter version. I did have the passenger side airbag light issue and needed this app to clear the codes after I installed the bypass devices for the weight detection mat and seatbelt warning light/buzzer. It worked for that, adding a digital speedometer and temperature readout to the dash, and brightening the angel eyes. That's about all I really tried to mess with. Overall, good app and a money saver if you need to reset a code or tweak a few little things. |

Also, I have had it done before by local coders, but when BMW updated the DME it cleared the coding.

CVM KOMFORT_BEDIENUNG_E88_C05 WERT_02 CAS KOMFORTOEFFUNG_FB aktiv Mine has had this for years. The first characters are the section of the software you will find the second setting in. The second is the command you need to change and the third item is the setting you want to pick.

Just bought the adapter and app but haven't had time to experiment BUT I did see on the Carly site that you can simply code with the engine running too, at least the options that aren't engine related. But I don't think they have anything engine related in the app.

Anyone know how to enable rear DRLs for LCI tail lights? I want the little LED strips illuminated in the daytime.

Carly thinks my brand new battery is 11.5v but two voltmeters disagree.
I wouldn't mind so much but it prevents me from doing coding saying the battery is too low. Is there a workaround?
