Hey guys... I've decided to buy locally and give DaveDee's test pipes a go! Whilst they're currently being made I'm trying to sort out a good place to get them installed. I got a quote from BMT but they're claiming twice the labour and 2.5 times the price of what the job 'should' take... I don't suppose any of you fine gentleman can recommend an alternative?

I've seen an exhaust shop untwist them on one occasion which has the potential to damage the sensor wiring, so where ever you take it try and watch the install and ensure it's done this way, that's why performance shops are often better. I know the price BMT came in at and I called Andrew but he's not sure how long it will take so he quoted the max. This time lapse vid shows all the steps needed, and taking off the sensors correctly I cannot stress that enough. (my background in Electronic Engineering trumps what an exahust fitter might say) Give Agent_Orange a call, he knows alternative places |

RAMP Auto? Have not used them but bought parts from Adrian when he first started out.
My E30 has been built by Josh&crew @ Galvsport and they do good work Have used Jesse@Autotechnik for servicing lately and seems to do a decent job. |

I use RAMP in Malaga, whose pricing has been reasonable and he is top notch with exhausts. I've found Regan, who owns it, very good and honest and does a lot of the work himself (as opposed to being the face of the workshop with some apprentice mucking around with your car).
Only tip would be to ask him to actually do the work himself (otherwise he might get his offsiders to do it). Worth a phone call at least. |

Thanks Phil... That will indeed be interesting to see! As for the BPM tune, you bet... DaveDee will help me do it remotely.. and then watch out for me on the nightly news in some exciting high-speed car chase footage!

BMT charged me $214.50 for the test pipes install. 1.5 hours labour. Same price as Dave, but perhaps the cutting and measuring for the test pipes alone take as long as the work that Dave had completed?

Just to reinforce....... It's being pedantic but you have to be with th 4 x 02 sensors..... I've seen an exhaust shop untwist them on one occasion which has the potential to damage the sensor wiring, so where ever you take it try and watch the install and ensure it's done this way, that's why performance shops are often better. |
