2016 xLine Trim Changes???

Anyone else notice that the 2016 xLine no longer includes the unique "alloy" colored lower lip trim, grill, uniquely shaped air intake inserts, and rear lower bumper trim???

It wasn't mentioned on the model year change guide, but both the configurator and a few 2016 xLines on Cars.com uphold the fact...if this is true, the xLine looks VERY mundane now...

I noticed it. Looks basically like no-line now. I got xline because of the air intake inserts mainly. Not sure why they would change them?

Garage List
If X line doesn't contain the pure experience package (as it is sold every where else outside of NA) what does the line include anyway?

I am glad I got mine before they changed this for 2016. The alloy is what differentiated xLine from the others and is the main reason I chose it. I didn't want too much black...

I agree. The xLine looked fantastic with the additional trim; it really set it apart from the base, luxury, and Msport.

It does look like a base model now, kinda boring, kinda basic.

I guess it does beg the question, what does the xLine include that differentiates it from the other trim options, that warrants $2k???

My 2016 X5 xDrive 35i just started production yesterday and I ordered the xLine package.

I really hope these changes are not true, otherwise I don't know what I can do when the car arrives. I want xLine mainly because of the steel panel on front & rear bumpers and silver kidney grille & air intake inserts.

I also found one 2016 X5 from a NJ dealer, which has xLine wheel (style 449), the aluminum running board, and roof rails in satin aluminum, but doesn't have other xLine trims. Here is the link to that car's pictures: http://www.bmwoffreehold.com/new-bmw...P19151/BF60082

Again, really hope BMW didn't change anything in xLine package for 2016.

I think that's what worries me, xLine wheels, but no associated trim.

wearenh - good find too, and I hope you're right!!!!

that is very troubling ... because the $63,995 price matches the xLine build in the configurator
and if you built a no-line the same way it would be $62,395 and in the configurator there
is no way to get the no-line with the 449 wheels

so ... the problem seems to be that we have an xLine without 3E2, despite the fact that
the pricing guide and ordering guide clearly states that xLine has 3E2

so *artisan* you need to get back to your dealer and make sure the build sheet has 3E2
on it (if you have the VIN post it) or you can run the VIN

even the website pics feature an xLine with all the "satin aluminum line exterior trim" and
says it is a feature of the xLine later down in the website, and on the configurator.
If it doesn't have 3E2, I would refuse it and have them make you another one ... just
the evidence on the pricing guide is enough to support your position

The xline may have been changed early in 2016 production.

Here's a 2016 but with all xline goodies:

http://www.autotrader.com/cars-for-s...07469688&Log=0

I'm not sure if this theory is correct but a spot check reveals xline package changes with vin. Last 5 digits start with 19XXX = new xline pkg.

8/1 may have been the last day for 3E2 xline, unfortunately.

Now we see why xline pricing dropped from $2500 to $2000. Deletion of:

- G shaped air intakes
- Aluminum front bumper trim
- Matte silver kidney grills
- Rear bumper trim (2 pieces)

I'm curious if the 50i will get to keep any of the deleted items from 3E2.

My best guess is that the 50i gets the matte silver kidney grills because on the m-sport 35i gets black and 50i get matte silver grills.

I just checked the build sheet which doesn't show 3E2 on it (I should notice this earlier). I am still waiting to get the VIN to double check, but probably I will need to re-order the car. Another 3 weeks waiting...

Luxury line also dropped from $1600 to $1100, but seems there are no changes to it?

Take a look at these lux lines. Am I seeing things or is there a silver trim on the front bumper and two pieces of trim on rear bumper like the outgoing xline??:

http://www.autotrader.com/cars-for-s...07657140&Log=0

http://www.autotrader.com/cars-for-s...07467439&Log=0

http://www.autotrader.com/cars-for-s...07494698&Log=0

And how about these xline/no-line. They have all of the xline features but with no-line wheels:

http://www.autotrader.com/cars-for-s...07562775&Log=0

http://www.autotrader.com/cars-for-s...07760461&Log=0

Possible good news for xline buyers. 8/7 build date and with 3E2:

Incorrect. Those are Lux Line wheels, not no-line wheels.

Incorrect. For 2016 these are the no-line wheels. Lux line wheels have changed. You might want to do thirty seconds of research before you pop a woody to correct someone.
