Help with coding out EDC
Hi folks,
Sorry - I posted this in the DIY section but am still having issues, so I thought I might ask here, and hope someone else can point me in a helpful direction. http://f80.bimmerpost.com/forums/sho...php?p=18448682 I am trying to code out EDC - I removed it from the VO, and VO coded my DSC, ICM, KOMBI and HU_NBT. This removed the errors I was getting, and changed the Instrument Cluster and iDrive to reflect no EDC, but I am now locked out of my M1/M2 modes. The weird thing is that they activate fine with the car ON but the motor not running but as soon as I start the car, they stop working. I get a little flash in the instrument cluster when I push the buttons but no confirmation or activation. I've tried re VO Coding, I've tried waiting overnight, etc. Any other suggestions? Or, I'm happy to hear from a vendor who thinks they might be able to help. I'd also love to hear from those who've done it successfully and what they did. (or which vendor helped them!) Thanks everyone! |

Why did you disable it? You getting coil-overs?

Ok - figured it out.
WHEW! Turns out on the F80/F82/F83, in order to activate the M1/M2 buttons, you'll need to unplug the EDC module. I don't know why I didn't think of this before. In the trunk, if you remove the battery cover, there is a silver ECU box right in front of you (two actually stacked on each other) You want to unplug the bottom one. Verify the part number if you aren't sure: http://www.realoem.com/bmw/enUS/show...diagId=33_1822 Part number: 37146872837 or number 15 in the diagram. There is a locking tab that you pull out, and the connector will come out - zip tie it somewhere stable and voila, after following my steps, now it works. |
