Burning Smell coming from the X5

Just received shipment of my '16 35i M-Sport and every time I drive the car and exit I smell a strong burning smell. Should I be concerned? Has about 19 miles on it so far.

A light 'heated wax/light oil' smell yes. A very strong buring rubber smell no. A week after we picked up our nex X5, we had a strong rubber smell, I tracked it down to a rubber ring that had fallen down between the raditor and fan housing. 10 goes with a long plastic stick and blue tack on the end removed it. It came from under the plastic motor cover!!!!!

Rubber smell? That's interesting. Mine is starting to smell like burnt oil (think old car exhaust) but oil level is normal. Not an overwhelming amount but starting to smell a bit.

When I first picked up the car there was a smell coming from the glass panoramic sunroof. A few of us figured out that it was the grease they use for the tracks. It goes away after a while.

It is called "cosmoline". The smell was very strong on my first F15. On the second one, not as bad. Usually burns off within 1-2k miles.

Being that you only have 19 miles on it so far, I'd give everything a chance to "burn off." If the smell still exists after 1,000 miles, I'd be more concerned.

Follow up to my prior post...

BMW forced me to tow it in, not drive (or no warranty), after I called it in with the burning smell. Dealer determined as above.
