Under what conditions does YMB appear pastel blue?

When does the color change to a pastel baby blue. I see pics of the car where the color looks different. I have seen this color in person and thought it looked great but it wasn't the pastel light blue that I see in some of the pics. Does it change to this color or is it just the camera?

It's the camera and the lighting.

Ok thanks. Just trying to settle on a color. For the price they should paint it whatever color you want. Just my opinion.

FWIW I passed on smurf blue (kidding) for this reason. In the sun you're going to see the pastel most. You should really try to track down a local with one before purchasing, it can be a polarizing color for some. I got lucky when searching out Yas, saw one parked on the road to BMW Monterey and then also caught a SO M6 on the lot. That sold the wife on SO on the spot.

When I saw a YMB out in the wild for the first time, I immediately decided that's the color I'm getting.

I have YMB and its defiantly camera + lighting issues. It definitely changes depending on lighting more so than other color and cameras just don't capture that accurately.

It's like all other metallic paints, and looks different according to the lighting. My guess is that it is a really small/fine metallic so you really don't see the glitter or flakes. But it is definitely recommended that you see the car in person and see it under direct light, indirect light, and in shade to see if you will like it. Trust your instinct on this one, when you see it person if you love it buy it if not don't try to convince yourself otherwise. YMB and AY are not colors for everyone.

One of the reason I took a pass on the YMB is because I couldn't accept the fact that it's too pastel princess color. If it had that meaner darker shade of it, it would have been #1 choice. I ended up going SO after seeing it Side by Side.

SO is the Sex.

I agree it looks a little funky with the orange reflectors, chrome kidneys, and stock ride height, but once you fix those issues and throw on a some mods it ends up looking pretty damn mean.

Would everyone say this is a true representation of it in direct sunlight and it never get any lighter? Any pic that's looks lighter than this is a camera factor?
I'm on the YMB vs SO fence.
Cheers

When f8x came out, I dismissed YMB right out of the gate.
Smurf color on a performance car? What was BMW thinking?!?

4 months ago I went to C&C at West Palm with my son and saw YMB f82 and f80 in person. Holy F'in S!!!!!

Sadly, I come from 4 black/gray BMW's, so I needed to take baby steps with my order.

Next BMW will be f8x YMB/SS/6MT!

P.S. I wish I had the balls to order YMB. Oh, well, next time....

I have always had black or white cars. Never test drove the f80 nor did I see ymb in person, but I knew it was the color for me and it's something different. Went ahead and ordered it, so I'll see in about a month haha. I'm sure it will be great

As someone said, when combined with some mods it can look very mean!

The metallic flakes in YMB are NOT silver, they're WHITE - thats why it looks so damn sexy in person and strange on the (sun) pics. The chalky bright blue looks not chalky at all in person, it just shows more the curves of the car. Thats why I love it. People are taking pictures nearly every day when I drive arround and I work at Zurich, where there are a lot of other exotic cars. This never happend to me while driving the Porsche GT3 cupple years ago.

For me it was between YMB and AY. I happen to see both driving to work one day and the YMB made my head turn ALOT more so I went with that.
