Car completely dead. Help needed.

So I went out of town for Christmas to visit my parents and I go out this morning to start my M3 and nothing. The car will not respond at all. No lights, the power locks don't work or anything. I checked the battery with a volt meter and it shows as full charge. Tried jumping it and still the same. Nothing.

Anyone have any ideas what could be the cause of this or what I could do? I'm not aware of any decent independent shops in this area so my only option at this point would be to tow it 50 miles to the nearest dealership, which will be very costly and I would probably have to wait until next week.

Any help would be very much appreciated!

Check the IBS cable.

Thanks for the suggestion. I looked at it, and it looks fine visually. Is there any way I can check it to see if it working or not?

After doing a little searching for information on the IBS sensor, I came across a post that mentioned an issue with corrosion on the fusebox. Apparently there is a recall for the normal 3 series for this. All I had to do was shake the fuse box a little and it works again. I'm not sure why there isn't a recall on this for the M3 if there is for the 3 series.

Sorry I don't know how to check if the IBS cable is good.

Have you verified all the connections are tight? How about the fuses?

Garage List
I have the same issue. It hasn't happened since I stopped using comfort access to get into the car. Weird how that works.

I was the one that posted this. Still can't believe why the M3 is not part of the recall as it used the same parts. Sounds like with time more M3's will face the same problem except most will now be out of warranty. BMW should really add the M3
