2014 X5 50i MSport - Weird Rattle from Roof

Hu Guys,

Apologies if this matter had been covered elsewhere (I searched but could not really find anything) but I appear to have a weird and extremely loud rattle that comes from the roof (maybe sunroof). It sounds literally like something is knocking up there and maybe even against the glass. It happens on random occasions and I cannot figure out how to replicate it. I tried several conditions with the roof open, popped open and closed and it randomly happens with all conditions.

Actually this is why I am posting here so when my car goes in for service next month I can tell the advisor what to look out for. This forum was excellent in the past in helping resolve the issue I had with doors popping open. I went to service armed with the necessary info and just asked the advisor to change the actuators - which he did - and problem gone...

I am in a 2014 BMW X5 F15 50i MSport....

The rubber bumper method solves many moon roof rattles on x3.

This happened to me when i floored it with the sunroof cracked open. The sound wouldn't go away for at least 2 minutes it seems. I finally figured it out that it was the sunroof. I was able to replicate it by flooring it with the sunroof cracked open.....then while its rattling....i closed the sunroof and it disappeared.
